In this video I excavate for the Hobbit Hole foundation, make the forms for the mono slab foundation, pour the concrete using a concrete pump truck, lay a cinder block wall, cut rebar for a concrete two way slab roof and pour the roof. I hope you enjoy watching this Hobbit Hole tiny house go together! Thanks!

I find it enlightening to watch how different countries handle the same problems or methods in construction. I grew up in a family of carpenters and we were quite rural. But some of the methods used here I saw 35 years ago we don’t use as much anymore. Like a formwork carpenter very few getting around anymore with alloy and plastic formwork systems. And rebar as opposed to reinforcement sheet. Either way this structure will survive thermonuclear and outlast us all

More of a small bunker on a gentle hillside than a hobbit hole, but it does look extremely sturdy.

That's great! You might look into using ICF forms instead of block. They are foam forms that you can just pump concrete into. It's a little more expensive but will save you a lot of time. If I do this again, I will be using them instead of block.

I'm in the Pacific Northwest. The average low in the winter is about 3 Celsius. This is going to be buried under dirt, plus I am insulating it inside and out with rigid foam panels.
