Okay so this song fills my odd taxi brain rot WAY TOO MUCH. From the previous songs we learned that Yano was abused from his childhood and was taken in by Dobu. We can pretty much assume that Yano was really attached to him, after all he was the only person Yano had. So when Dobu and Yano went on their separate ways, Yano found his right hand-arm, Sekiguchi. He basically went from 1 person he was nice to, to 1 person he was nice to. With this in mind, Sekiguchi isnt stupid, he knows that Yano is just nice to him because he doesnt have Dobu. At 2:43 is where it really shows Sekiguchis emotions towards his and Yanos relationship. "The one who made me promise to call him "Mizoguchi-san" was you, Yano-san! AND YET!"- This gives Sekiguchi the impression that, despite Yano not liking Dobu, he feels that his boss wouldnt hesitate to go back to him and "leave him behind". This makes Sekiguchi quite literally want to beat up Dobu in the hopes that Yano would stop being attached to him and finally see him for who he is and not a "Dobu substitute". What makes it better is that, its not even clear if Yano really sees him as that (a Dobu substitute). In episode 9.9 of the ODD TAXI audio drama, Yano considers him as family, going as far as to saying he wont let Sekiguchi say hes lonely anymore even. These emotions mostly stem from Sekiguchi's insecurity and fear of abandonment, another similarity both he and Yano have. As to why Yano's opinion matter so much to him, I could only assume that much like how Yano is/was attached to Dobu, we could say that Sekiguchi feels that way towards Yano since hes the only one he has too. Atleast towards the end, it shows how they genuinely enjoy each others companionship and theyre not together out of necessity. also THANK YOU SM FOR THE TRANSLATIONS

Some bonus fun facts about this song! Punpee's verse was written by Punpee, whilst Meteor (aka Yano) and Konomoto (aka the Oddtaxi scriptwriter) basically tag-teamed the rest of the lyrics. 01:07 Meteor was the one who suggested the "Sekiguchi having a younger sister" setting. 01:34 This seemingly out-of-left-field part is classic Meteor-flavoured wackiness/love of the occult: often in the hilarious Oddtaxi fanfic stories he used to tell on his TwitCast, Sekiguchi has the ability to see and exorcise evil spirits. 02:24 This a nod to Yano's own "My Name is..." song. 02:25 But also this whole bit is supposed to be Yano trying to communicate in English with the airline check in staff (assumedly for their flight to Panama) what Sekiguchi's name is. 02:31 This is a reference to the main character of Golgo13; a professional assassin who frequently uses "Duke Togo" as an alias. 02:44 Meteor explained that the idea behind his rant here is that Sekiguchi has a cute grade-school kid's level of understanding/jealously regarding Yano and Dobu's perceived closeness. 03:39 This is a reference to Yano telling Sekiguchi he should become an "Ichiro (aka a very famous Japanese baseball player) expert" on the song Big Brother Dobu from Meteor's 2019 EP. 03:41 This is most likely a nod to how back when they were on good terms, Yano pestered Dobu to take him out to a Korean BBQ restaurant but was always turned down... but it's okay because now he can enjoy it with Sekiguchi instead :)

You say this song is hilarious, but I can't stop thinking about the first part: "Born in a loveless land". This song demonstrates how Yano and Sekiguchi are similiar, as they both felt lonely and are trying to get their revenge on life through the organization; the last part feels surprisingly heartwarming, because it shows that genuine friendship which Yano never had in his life. These two are really lucky to have each other, Yano in particular considering his toxic past with Dobu. But speaking of Dobu, "I'm feeling left behind me" surprised me: I've always thought Sekiguchi hated Dobu for how insensitive he was towards Yano, but now it looks like he's simply jealous of their relationship. Kinda weird.

@@davidedalterio4979 Great observations! PS it's not weird if you think about it from the angle of Sekiguchi basically just being down bad for Yano 😉

i'm dense, what does it mean?
@teia67912 жыл бұрын
@@yonakaentropy it can mean two things! (1) the actual place "Panama" where both Yano and Sekiguchi would have a vacation to or (2) the euphoria state that Yano is in whenever he takes his drugs~ hope that helps! if anything, i'd like to be corrected on what i said since its been months since my oddtaxi phase haha
