No it doesn't, because he was wrong about that. Yes the ANALYZER says double, the ANALYZER and it alone is bugged. In game, two abutting plates do not add their thicknesses, they average them just like you'd expect. Never trust the analyzer on anything important, it has several other differences from the real game as well. A lot of the other differences are due to ricochets being treated as a sudden switch from 0% to 100% versus in game being a RNG. Test things in test drive to get the real answer, including that this explanation in the video isn't actually a real thing in game.

@@a_komainu Nope, drivers hatches are a completely unrelated issue which is that in War Thunder, ballistic glass has the strength of thor's own hammer and a thousand neutron stars, and absorbs your shot. That is a bug where glass has way too high an armor value, but it pre-dates volumetric so it's not a volumetric bug. "IS-2 cracks" I don't know what you're referring to. What crack, what shell fired, from what angle? 95%+ of the time people blame volumetric, it's either lag, a ricochet that they didn't realize was a ricochet and sent the shell into a thicker area (ricochet logic also pre dates volumetric), or ballistic glass. Volumetric is one of the least buggy things they've ever added, it works basically flawlessly.

It has 68mm IIRC of pen, the neck is narrower than the shell itself, and the plates both above and below the neck are 75mm. Yet it pens just fine. It's completely impossible for that to happen if it isn't AVERAGING the plates. By Odd's logic, it would be facing 180+mm of armor with 68mm of pen, yet it pens. Because it's actually averaging 75,75,30 and coming out just barely below the shell's 68. Go. Try it. Load up the game right now.

And while its certainly true that armor plate isnt what runs up the cost of heavier AFVs a lot of the equipment youd want in the box with an ATGM on top would almost certainly be put into a new production run of these. All the while they need more specialized industy and infrastructure. If you ship this thing as is with a 1940s radio inside and no improved sights or such it would not be reasonable to expect it to perform.

This is one of the few tanks I truly switch between shells. Most things you can handle with the APHE, but others that are heavy, you switch to HEAT or APDS for a shot or two. This thing has night and day survivability compared to the previous tank destroyers. From my experience, even better than the IS-2 1944. I regularly outclass heavies, even in cqb brawls. Probably because most don't play this, so a lot of people don't have experience VSing it. But try it yourself and judge.

regarding the volumetric shells/armour, they should take the values of each armour segment, find the percentage of the shells impack on the plates then average the thickness of the plates based on that percentage, itd be alot better then just adding the armour values together

I’d like to see you revisit the PZ 3 N. It’s an interesting tank with that low velocity 75mm HEAT. At ranges over 1.2ish KM the angle brings the shell on top of the target. 3.0 second reload, and you have a nice recipe for up tiered trolling top shot shenanigans

No it doesn't. He didn't test it in the actual game, where he would have discovered it is not a thing. That shell would go through there just fine in an actual match. ONLY the analyzer is bugged. (Also, it's adjoining plates not overlapping plates btw. Overlapping plates adding their strength wouldn't be a bug, that would be common sense)
