Buster Keaton's stunts were insane, dangerous and great to watch, no actor today would have the balls to try anything he did..

Ah, NICE! :-) On my 1st week of vacation this year (and got 3+ more weeks of vacation, before year-end) & turning 47 today, 10/8. Just got up a little while ago, got a cuppa Joe, some bottled water & a smoke. I ALREADY got THE BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT, EVER -- and it's something that actually happened near the end of March this year. It's something I've wanted for the US, and ULTIMATELY, for the WHOLE WORLD -- since early October, 1978 (a few days before I turned 5 years old)! :-) However, YET ANOTHER FINE episode from Ben Minnotte @Oddity Archive is ALSO an EXCELLENT birthday present, OF COURSE! :-) ALL THE BEST, Ken :-)

I think a lot of people these days would see the name "Steamboat Bill Jr." and think of the cartoon parody it inspired, "Steamboat Willie", by that company that shall not be named.

Maybe Walt Disney First Had Thoughts On It. There used to be a tiny silent film theater in NYC. Cannot recall the name, but they would be as authentic as possible for the viewings. It was pretty cool.

I enjoyed this. I dont know anything about Keaton, but appreciate the history aspect. You speak of watching old silent in your youth and that kind of being your thing. My thing as a youth were the old Radio Reruns cassettes of vintage radio programs they used to sell at bookstores.

My sister's dog was named Buster Keaton, and for good reason, he was a stunt artist. He would escape any fence, would escape from any leash, and will just make you chase him until he, or i, got tired and gave up... or bled to death in one case, cause chasing him one time I managed to skin my hand and knee very badly...but I'm fine now, it just hurt like hell for a month. Sadly he passed away back at new years 2019.

Very nice. Used to watch a lot of silent slapstick shorts on TV as kid in the 70s and 80s. We had a few shows which compiled several of them into half an hour or so with silly german voice-over narration. My dad loved them too, I think he was especially fond of Harold Lloyd, I remember watching the occasional movie with him when one happend to air. I should really look out for some of those gems, I feel I neglected them for a long time, the only one I own is a Laurel&Hardy movie on VHS, and it's not one of their best.

Great to see Keaton fans on KZbin. I too grew up wanting to get the Kino dvd set and would get the Laserdisc boxes if it ever pops up. I plan on getting the UK masters of cinema releases but still ha e my trusty mgm Laserdisc copy of Cameraman/Spite Marriage.

I did find a copy of the railrobber with Buster Keaton rides again documentary on it as well but unfortunately it was a old blockbuster video rental with no Packaging just a dvd . Well when I bought it off of eBay I got it and wasn’t really in bad condition I buffed it out and it plays like new another one I did find on DVD was the Rail robber with a TV episode from ABC I forgot what it was called but the episode was the silent partner , Which was very entertaining It had a lot of guest stars in it , well worth checking out.

I have two copies of the general. One has commentary and the other is the new version that is really cleared up. How he did what he did is still baffling and astonishing. A great filmmaker. I agree with Orson Wells that The General is one of the greatest movies ever.

7 chances was also remade as The Bachelor, a 1999 film starring Chris O'Donnell and Renée Zellweger, using almost the same script all the way down to a 12 minute scene where he is being chased by 1,000 brides.

D. W. Griffith is a million times better than Buster Keaton as a director, obviously the genre is different but that's what I'm saying, Broken Blossoms is a million times more important to watch than The General
