PropSpeed is good to use on your propellers. It really works. Fancy color on the prop Duca. It's going to stand out in the boat yard.

You should paint nail varnish on the annode so it covers the area over the bolt, as this is the thinest part, and errodes the soonast, so by putting nail varnish over that area, it makes the annode last a lot longer before it needs to be replased

i have never used that system ( prop speed) i will be interested in how it holds up. good grounding is important on any boat and critical on a steel boat ( electrolysis problems) . yeah i would not mess with that shaft seal if not necessary, just another thing on your list to check every once in a while ...lol i am sure you can't wait till splash, you have done a fine job, almost there! i will be interested to see the sails and rig fit-out.

Once I have my anode on tight I tap a few taps with a hammer and can tighten the bolts a little bit more. Do that a few times abd they will be on so well. I think that prop speed will work so well for where you will be in warm water. In florida boats in marinas have a diver come monthly to scrape those annoying barnacles.

Prop speed is really good. You will love it. It's just a little expensive. My last place of employment in the Florida Keys started using it a couple years ago. Had really good luck with it on medium to large vessels. Up to 52 feet. The large ship yards would also do the mega yachts.

Just a thought. the electrical device used to check the prop checks for flow of ac current only. It does not measure electrical potential or a dc current. Even if there was an ac potential at the prop it would have no place to flow thus not triggering that tester(at least till you put it in water and complete the circuit). That thing is useful only to check if the problem is the wall socket or the extension cord. It will not tell you if your battery bank will harm you. Learning a multimeter takes less time than not knowing it. It lets you see the angry pixies before they release the magical blue smoke that powers all electromagical devices. I'm covid stuck so i cant go get a boat as was this summers plan. Thank you for letting us fix this boat and set sail with you where we cant ourselves. It means so much right now.
@joesmith44944 жыл бұрын
sorry the tester does measure potential. but there is still much that it does not tell you that is very relevant to the application. And the multimeter is close to the same price for entry level
@peterg.82454 жыл бұрын
Measures between your body which is coupled to ground and antenna on the tip of the probe. They are however very prone to failure and false negatives.

Please help me understand this nautical stuff. I’ve seen a number of posts refer to anti-fowl on a boat. I’m assuming that the use of anti-fowl is why you never see chickens stuck to the side of boats. Is the need to “feather” a prop the reason why anti-fowl isn’t used on propellers? 😀
@peterg.82454 жыл бұрын
I self identify as a chicken and I’m attracted to these videos.
