Maybe the differences in Fire and Blood and ASOIAF proper is the reason why GRRM is having trouble getting "Winds" finished? If you're a "gardener" perhaps it is easier to just put down the "backstory" (i.e. Fire and Blood), as opposed to being in the heads of the characters and trying to grow from there?

Btw Ameber you are so right, watching HOTD and game of Thrones everyone worked so well, the costumes, the hair, the everything including the color grading has a certain vibe and feel for it that makes the world cohesive. Meanwhile Rings feels so weirdly inconsistent, things feel like assets from different sets

Great listen. But I have a different opinion. Purely good characters don't make compelling tv for me. For example I think Rhaenyra and Daemon are some of the best characters GRRM has created. Most people are both good and evil.

The Rings of Power hasn't drawn in ardent Tolkien fans. Its obvious issue is that Amazon doesn't have rights to anything else apart from the Lord of the Rings and the appendices, so they've had to pad out their own way of telling the story and that has caused many characters and events to be completely different from the way they appear in Tolkien's works. Not going to lie, Amazon had no reason to try and make a show when it didn't even have rights to the material it was trying to adapt in the first place. It's a cash grab on Amazon's part - trying to cash in on LOTR's popularity and huge fanbase

Yeah rings of power is just boring, there are things to like and hate but the story is boring

Not a fan of HotD. The actors simply do not have the duality and charisma that existed with the talented GOT actors.

I think all the HotD actors are great, but it's hard to sympathize with many of them. I loved Daemon's girls, and Helena (sp?) and I think the show is still very good. Just different in a way that doesn't stack up against GoT.

​@roadtotarvalon I agree it's a good show but it just doesn't reach the heights of the original show. Which isn't really a surprise I don't think any of the shows set in that universe that will come in the future will either.
