Although I wasn't on the River Plunge adventure, I'm proud to say I was on many others. We were part of the original Jackass generation. Good fun!

I bought a 1989 Festiva new off the lot and even with all my future cars with tons of options and electrics, it still is my favorite car. I took it up a Jeep trail almost all the way to Camp Bird Mine. Had to back down with a 4x4 caravan coming at me. Good times. RIP my Festiva. Totalled by a drunk driver in 1993. (Still drove it in all its wonkiness for 2 months before insurance settled)

My family got a Festiva very similar to yours back in those days. It's just been a car that's.... there. It's still "there" today, and over the course of 30 years, it has come to the rescue as a backup car whenever the car we're driving (all the way from a 94 Pathfinder to a 21 Camry) has issues. It was my grandfather's car and was purchased to replace an 84 Voyager, and has outlasted anything new he got after it. Now, it's more of a weekend car, only driven on sunny days when there's little to no traffic out. Despite its age, it handles long trips without issues. Plug in the battery, gas up, and go!
