Tears watching this. Watched it almost nightly in my first apartment when I was 19.

How did I miss this? Truth be told, I am in tears here...Imagine This: An empty mobile home, in the middle of the desert, after a fun and happening party, no one around (they all left), Odesza blasting still, I wake up from way too much alcohol, and .... and .... absolute loneliness. No one bothered to turn the music down. No one decided that it might be too loud. No one wanted to wake me from my snoring to let me know, they're gonna leave. This is my beautiful, haunting, memory of Odesza.

I had this cassette like twenty two years ago that said ‘Wade Randolph Hampton’ and it was like ‘psycho trance’ but this was very different from what I understand is Wade Randolph Hampton’s music (maybe there’s another Wade from long ago before the one online?). I really wish I had that tape still, it was my favorite... The advent of software that lets a user paste in any sort of musical interface they can understand, then interact with touch screen, leaving the only necessity to find the sample to be utilized, and then time to arrange it... soundscaping is the new producing. Instrumentals have made a comeback and that’s super rejoiceful!

Huge flume fan. He was the first artist with this kind of sound I discovered, but honestly, and i may receive a lot of hate for saying this, Odesza is more consistent in my opinion. since i heard Flume first, I am biased to say I like some of his songs a little more, but some are just kind of out there. i have yet to hear an odesza song i don't love.

I see what you're saying, but the issue is that Flume is a little bit of a DJ as well as producer, while Odesza focuses more on the production. So Odesza might invest more time in producing each song.

props to kexp for getting down digital and live instruments down in the mix properly. i can't tell you how many times other sound engineers have failed to get the dynamic right
@fractaljack11 жыл бұрын
Seeing them live adds so much to the experience. They work dynamics and soul into their music and when those bass bins kick in - look out. I could see them doing a hybrid project similar to Bonobo's live shows working more live musicians into the mix like they did here. I can see a drummer, bassist, percussion, brass...that would be incredible!!

ODESZA is like when I first heard "The girl with the sun in her head" from Orbital. 20 years in between. Instantly hooked. I do not care how music is made, it's a craft no matter what tools you use. Some people are good at it, most utterly bad, and some very few are geniuses. ODESZA are from those very few.
