Trump Picks JD Vance as VP // Amit Mishra comments on Gill

US Senator JD Vance, chosen by Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump as his vice-presidential pick, acknowledged his wife and her Hindu faith for aiding him in overcoming personal and professional hurdles and reconciling with his own Catholic beliefs. Vance disclosed this in an interview with Fox News that aired a few weeks before his selection as Trump's running mate. His wife, Usha Chilukuri Vance, joined him during the conversation.
Veteran Indian spinner Amit Mishra expressed his disapproval of the BCCI’s choice to appoint Shubman Gill as captain for the five-match series against Zimbabwe. Reflecting on Gill's leadership with the Gujarat Titans, where the team ended up eighth in the IPL 2024 points table, Mishra remarked that Gill appeared to struggle as a captain during the season. He further criticized the BCCI's decision to hand him the captaincy, though he acknowledged Gill’s competence as a batsman in the shortest format. Mishra clarified that while he had no objection to Gill's inclusion in the squad, he believed that granting him the captaincy for leadership experience was misguided, as there were more suitable candidates available.
