Odie's Oil

Odie's Oil

Күн бұрын

Refurbishing exterior furniture with Odie's Oil is an effective way to restore its beauty and extend its lifespan. This natural wood finish enhances the wood’s grain while providing robust protection against weather elements. To achieve a perfectly refurbished look, start by cleaning and sanding the furniture to remove old finishes and smooth out imperfections. Apply a thin, even layer of Odie's Oil with a clean cloth or brush, working it into the wood in the direction of the grain.
Allow the oil to penetrate for at least 30 minutes, then buff off any excess with a dry cloth to achieve a smooth, satin finish. For optimal results, apply a second coat and buff as needed. Odie's Oil is non-toxic and easy to use, making it an excellent choice for both DIY enthusiasts and professional woodworkers. For more details, visit www.odiesoil.com/.

I am in love with the Odie's products. I recently completed a walnut mid-century modern gentleman's chest with the universal oil & am thrilled with the results. I'm just about ready to begin the Odie's process on a gorgeous walnut & mahogany MCM chest of drawers & dresser set by Kent Coffey. I'm looking to have more depth in the pieces & will be using the process shown in this video. I'm not using any stain & the pieces have been hand sanded to 320. I'm confused by the "0" rating on the white mirca pad. I understand the red is 360 & grey is 1,500, but white is "0" ??? Does the "0" rating represent the ultimate/finest grit made? What color/grit mirca pad do you recommend for this project ? Should it be the same grit for applucation of both products? Lastly, what is the recommended cure time for the solvent based penetrating oil before applying the universal oil ?

"0" means non-abrasive (always run a test piece to make sure doesn't scratch your surface). You should choose a pad rated equal to or higher than your last sanding or a pad non-abrasive. Yes, use the same pad for both products, and wait one day in between coats. After the last coat, allow 3-5 days to fully cure before you expose it to liquids, also see the link odiesoil.com/odies-finishes-application/

Hello, how many seasons before it fades back to silver if left to the elements. Is it a yearly treatment if you want to keep it brown?

@@stefana1446 Routine maintenance could be once a year to once every several years. It all depends on the wood species and direct exposure to the elements.

Is the solvent penetrating oil food safe? I live in Australia, and we don’t have any stockists, so hoping to buy less products to get same result. What’s the difference between the one you make yourself and the solvent-free version please (other than it having the solvent in it!)?

Thank you for this video and for sharing the recipe for the solvent oil. Your results on that chair are nothing short of breathtaking. I use Odie’s oil and wax at my house. Now I need to order some solvent cleaner from you!
