I noticed that too. It's almost like he's doing his best to speak English with as little slang and as few conjunctions as possible, so the Russian audience can understand him better.

I wonder how long it took Matt to learned Russian to the point he communicates with ease with teammates and for volleyball technical instructions, etc... I am sure the team probably hired someone for him and Wilfredo Leon to teach them. What an interesting life would be to play professionally to that level around the world. Too bad USA doesnt like volleyball as much as Europe and Asia where the pro leaguers can make a living out of it.

@cathy- I don't think he means all the time, just the days where he has 2 trainings because he can't do many activities. Maybe as he stays longer in Russia and grasp the language a bit more, he will go out more. I think Volleyball is one of the toughest sports out there, in terms of a long season and loads of training. It's like from Sept to May is season and then some players have international duty as well. I know they have videos with Mikalov and others but I hope they do the Russian players again, with eng subtitles as well. I am a fan of some of the Zenit players and the Russian National Team.

Меня удивляет, что топовому игроку приходится: 1. Самому себе готовить еду (?!); 2. Жилье в обычной халабуде, подъезд ободранный, во дворе наверняка хватает алкашей, неадекватов и прочее; 3. Само жилье хрен знает где от центра волейбола, надо ездить на машине; 4. Страдать от отсутствия бассейна (?!) или возможности поиграть во фрисби. Я-то думал, что Зенит - топ команда, а это просто колхоз натуральный, "Чэрвона цыцька". Я считаю, достойные условия для игроков такого уровня должны быть такие: 1. Жилье в спец. спорт общежитии. Где среди прочего есть бассейн, например. А также спец. комнаты для людей ростом 2 метра, чтобы не кланяться перед каждым косяком, хотя бы дома; 2. Само жилье должно находиться как можно ближе к спортзалу. Чтобы можно было спокойно пешком туда прийти за 10 минут; 3. И кушать спортсмен должен не сам себе готовить (я вот от этого просто ох*/л!), а профессиональный повар варить. По индивидуальному рецепту, рекомендациям спорт. диетолога и врача. Иначе я просто не верю в профессиональность такого клуба. Чего тут профессионального? Профи - это тот, кто посвящает себя всего одному своему делу. Все остальное за него делают другие профи - повара, шоферы и т.д. Что рассказывает Мэтью о России своим знакомым? Про грязные улицы? Про обклеенный, ободранный, обоссанный котами подъезд? Про то, как каждый день сам себе варит макароны (?! х/ею!) ? Это не профи, это опять сам себе повар, таксист, диетолог, врач, аниматор. Зарплата у Мэтью достойная. Какого же черта не могут ему обеспечить условия? Я думаю, он в состоянии заплатить за комфорт. Или с него дерут втридорога за эту халупу? Неужели тренерам неинтересно, как устроились игроки, в каких условиях живут? Тем более иностранцы, они же изначально могут не знать, какие возможности у них есть. А Леон тоже сам себе варит жратву, ездит на рыдване по грязным дорогам и живет в халупе? Я не удивлюсь, что да, если Мэтью приходится.
