@@wood-psyche Dont worry about it, i really wanted this video out, so i did plan the premiere a little bit on short notice. basicly finished editing in the afternoon :) Is the start time convenient though? i mean a lot of my viewers are from the states etc. there is probably some sweet spot so the the time is good for europeans as well as americans and canadians etc. bit of a time difference there anyway. I would like to make it a regular thing on a friday once every couple of weeks or something i think. Nice to hear you like the face, im no where near your level of detail/expression but i do think im getting a bit more comfortable with this kind of design at least. i will use more dremel at some point as well but i think for the basics learning anything new i like to try as much as possible with the chainsaw first if that makes sense. Good to hear from you anyway. and again i appreciate you checking out my stuff as always :D Hope you have a great weekend man.

Thanks man, it was a lot of fun making it for me for sure. Getting a bit more confident making faces now, they are still a bit outside of my comfort zone but maybe ive almost grinded enough to lvl up again lol. Glad you like it :D

honoustly pretty hard to find what it should be, i went off the pictures provided by the client as well and he sent 2 both missing their right eye. so yea looking at it the left. i think this is probably where the confusion comes from. i hope i did right anyway and i think most importantly its what was ordered. i do love these kind of jobs where u get some creative freedom. they generally turn out the best :). luckily ive only had a few carvings where people kept feeding new ideas and changing stuff. can be very tiring for sure :) Im glad i managed to stick to my personal deadlines and get it all done as well as being content with the end result hehe. i could likely do it faster and better eventually but i feel like i came out with more confidence in these kind of woodspirit kind of carvings. i would almost dare to say i can probably do something similar in 4-5 hours next time opposed to 6-8 i reserved for this one, could be overconfident on that one though :P Had a lot of fun making it anyway and i do like the end result a lot! Defo have some cool ideas for upcomming carvings, so stay tuned for that. Thanks for checking it out, i greatly appreciate the kind words as well. So thanks a lot man! Have a good weekend Spike!

Mathieu, ik heb met plezier gekeken hoe het kunstwerk "groeit". Vanaf 4.10 zag ik bij het bewerken dat de kleur wit was. Verkleurt het hout zo snel als je er een tijd niet aan hebt gewerkt. Als je dan weer begint is het verschil bruin (oud) en wit (nu bewerkt)🤔 Hoe lang ben je hier ongeveer mee bezig geweest?? En wat een prachtige afwerking zeg. Heel mooi contrast, de zwarte raven en het oude gezicht.🙂

Goedenmorgen Piet, Blij dat je m ook mooi vind, altijd fijn om te horen. Ik heb het beeld over een aantal dagen verspreid, ook in verband met de regen. Totale tijd voor dit beeld is ongeveer 6 tot 8 uur, dat was in elk geval wat ik ervoor had ingeplanned. ik denk dat dat aardig is gelukt. De verkleuring is bij het elzenhout wel echt specifiek aan die houtsoort. vers gezaagd gezaagd is t wit, dag later is het oranje. mooi contrast zo ook in zon filmpje je ziet exact waar ik zaag wanneer ik een dag later verder ga. zover mij wijsgemaakt is werd in middeleeuwse tijden werd dit hout vermeden omdat het rood bloede en met de duivel geassocieerd werd, het oxideert bijna meteen na het snijden meteen rood als je een levende boom af zaagt. :D zodra het droger wordt is dit minder het geval. Maar goed ik zal een lang verhaal verhaal korter proberen te maken en jou een prettig weekend toe wensen :). Tot de volgende 👍🏻

@@MathieusChainsawCarvings Mathieu, dat idee had ik ook dat het hout na korte tijd verkleurde. Op zich wel mooi zodat het verder weinig afwerking (olie of was) behoeft. Nogmaals bedankt voor je prachtige uitleg.🙂

haha yea, it can be quite tricky recording sometimes :D. when u get to the intricate details i tend to wanna get in as close as possible as to not screw it up haha, about half of the work on the face with my 18cc chainsaw was also missing since the battery of my camera ran out.. probably no one noticed but yea, the whole filming and editing is an art as well to be honoust. maybe one day ill improve a little as far as that goes :D

@@SoeCarpeDiem haha yes ofcourse :) filming this kinda thing still produces allot of video like that if you are not carefull. that said i dont want to spend too much time on repositioning everything when im doing a commissioned job but yeah i did get that it was a joke :D, just still wanted to elaborate on it. some footage is nice but the goal is ofcourse to make it a little bit fast and actually use the time for carving rather then filming when it comes to something that someone is paying for :). Sorry i havent gotten around to replying to your latest mail, busy times, ill get around to it though, got the rest of the week off , wich is perfect because the weather is gonna be great rest of this week :)

Oh MG...Odin! 2X I tried for a friend who had a very specific model...2X, but 2X I failed 😟... I have to try again, 1 X the nose was too short, the other, I didn't keep enough wood for his head and his helmet! Soon I will try again! ID love to help if i can, feel free to send me an email anytime! im a bit of a novice myself when it comes to faces, i hope it resembles Odin i went off 2 pictures sent to me by the client who asked me to make this piece, on one of them he was wearing this hood wich seemed like the safest option for me, the ravens was something i came up with, i think i would have struggled with "random" things to fill the space space around the head otherwise and the client thought it was a great idea. Was lucky enough to get somewhat creative freedom on this, generally works best for me anyway. But yea send it over and ill have a look. if i can be of any help ill be happy to be of assistance :)
