Sweet! There are half-round dowels, and full round dowels as well. And some manufacturers make cones!

You could remove a small triangle from where the foam dowel meets the tip of the sword and then the tip of the sword will fit into that triangular gap so there will be no misshaping

I'd love to see you make something with one of your homemade batteries and USB color changing lights that come with a remote. Your little electrical intricacies add so much to your builds, I think there's a lot of potential with those popular string adhesive color changing LEDs you can get for 3-5$ at Walmart!
