On thanksgiving, i decided to make this axe, Varin’s Axe. I didn’t know that you did one, but i decided to do one myself. What also inspired me was years of watching your videos, gave me experience to try this on my own, my very first prop project on my own without any youtube video. after making two of them, i decided to look up if there was a prop video, and lo and behold, good ol’ Odin made one! And both of ours looks just like the one from the game. so even though i didn’t see the video to make the prop, i wanna thank you for the years of videos you made for us, because it helped me build up experience, and the courage to do a prop all by myself for the very first time. I like how it looks, in the thumbnail. I would like to see, a life size Lego flashlight build. There are glow in the dark peices for Lego, so an insert made out of polymer like a resin mixed with glow powder, would work. Even though, the lens is yellow, on the peice itself, the glow in the dark insert, can be orange, white, green or blue.

A tip, if you lightly sand or file the wood after adding the grey, it really sells that it is still wood while keeping the very grey weathered look

I’ve seen people use Cricut cutting machines for intricate foam knot work like that. Specifically Cowbutt Crunchies on Instagram for their Thor and Loki cosplays. Also, instead of putting contact cement over fuzzy foam pieces to seal them, you can use your heat gun to melt the fuzzy bits and “heat seal” it. Kamui Cosplay does this with just about all of her foam props.

The design of that particular axe is referred as "shaved" whereas the more commonly recognized design of Viking axes is referred to as a "bearded" axe, hence the difference between his two axes. Awesome job on this by the way, came out looking spectacular. My guess would be the haft is supposed to be made of ash wood since, once stripped of bark, wood that comes from an ash tree tends to have a sort of beige-gray appearance.
