I'm actually pretty amazed at how well you've articulated the arms
@OdinMakes4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Me too. The joint articulation was something that worried me fully. it wasn't until I started with a cardboard version that I realized where the pivot points needed to be, and that Gunpla has it right, 2 pivots are needed.

@@OdinMakes I'm sure the legs will look killer when you're done! I haven't really experienced much gunpla past one kit and the legs on that while looking cool where not practical at all. I mean. Who puts thin blades as feet?

It’s honestly extremely impressive that you’ve been able to make a full Gundam suit this accurate that a human can actually move in. Plus all the small details that give it the machine made look is super impressive. Just awesome all around

Odin Makes I bet! Making the arms work the way they do also shows a huge amount of skill. I’m currently working on making Hellboy’s Right Hand of Doom like you did, and I’m trying to figure out the opening mechanism with the secondary strings you mentioned, and it’s a lot more complicated than I thought, so you making yours look so good is just awesome

This is by far my favorite build thus far! This will be a head-turner walking down the con floor. It would be nice to see a version or an update of this costume on stilts with more exaggerated pieces. Such as the chest and shoulders being double the width. Similar to the scale you see on Optimus Prime and Megatron suits at Universal Studios theme parks.

I have always thought a good way to do the beam sabers would be using a newer style toy lightsaber as a base so when its attached into the backpack you could recreate the iconic drawing the beam saber from over the shoulder just by pulling it down quickly without the need for a button or a swap out blade but the length of those are not the best
@tetsujin_1444 жыл бұрын
11:18 - "Now I wonder how much abuse the suit can really take" You made this out of light-colored foam - in retrospect it might have been better to make it out of silver or black foam. That way if the paint wears off in places, it will look like a weathering effect. Love this work, though! It looks really sharp!

I still say you need to buy two of the official 1/12 scale air shock beam sabers. They do come with mounts in them that are meant for the 1/12 jumbo size that would fit the backpack and you could likely use those to work a piece to make a light up beam saber blade. I have one myself and it's one of the most prized parts of my collection. Even if you don't use it straight up you could use pictures of that to develop your own with proper details.
@OdinMakes4 жыл бұрын

You got it, you understand the dilemma! The real scale problem is fitting over a human. The head could be a little smaller, but not much. Each piece is scaled to fit the joints and body measurements of Joe. This Gundam is Cosplay Scale, not 1/12!
