I really wanted to make this out of wood at some point when was very young and not a good prop maker. And it turned out horribly. ( think of it from a prop maker point of view, as a toddler trying to recreate the Mona Lisa with a stick of charcoal.) I can’t tell you how happy I am to see one of these things, while it actually looks great, while also being fan made. I love this. Ps: when I started watching you, I always wanted to be like you, and be able to make things as good as you do. And watching your videos over years and time, has improved my skills by more that’s normal. You helped me achieve that, and I thank you for it.

There are dozens (possibly hundreds) of sculpts to recreate the original '75 Kirk. Each one is aimed at recreating a certain look from each movie - the Castle stretch being one of the hardest. There are even pulls made from the scan of the original mold. None hit all the marks. It's an exercise in futility for so many.

You did a much better job than I expected. Knives are just something many people can't get right in foam. The only things I would have done differently would be in the handle. I use exclusively vintage wood handled cutlery in my kitchen ( most between 30 and 100 + years old ) and you will always see staining around the rivets and around the edges where moisture has rusted the tang and that iron oxide has leached into the wood. It would not be necessary for screen accuracy since the knife would have been relatively new at the time, but I think it would age relatively quickly with Micheal using it without care or cleaning.

What I usually do for the rivets(that's what I assume they are) on either armor or knives, if I don't want to feel the rise, is take a straw, or a small sharp tube about the right size and press it in fairly hard, and you should be able to see it, as it leaves an impression, and you might be able to do it after you paint to get it more noticeable
