Odin Makes: Midoriya's Deku Mask from My Hero Academia

I make Izuku Midoriya's Deku mask, from EVA foam, without using any power tools!
In this video I will show you step by step how I made Deku's Mask as seen in My Hero Academia Two Heroes. The only tools i used were hobby knives, rulers, sandpaper, paintbrush, and a special hole making tool.

Another really cool build. I didn’t think making Deku’s mask would be that complicated to shape out, so honestly props to you for being able to keep all those angles and patterns straight, because just my few simple props I’ve made have been tricky to keep track of

Oh, I wanted to share a few things I’ve found from making props lately. I’ve actually found you can glue with wet contact cement, and it seems to still bond as strong. I used it when having to glue a foam cylinder inside another cylinder because I couldn’t let the cement dry or they would have been stuck together either a very weak seam. One more thing, I saw on Adam Savage’s Tested that he used Molotow Liquid Chrome permanent ink on foam, and it was so shiny and smooth it looked like actual silver metal. I’d love to try it out myself one day. Hope this helps someone

William Jakespeare also uses Molotow, I have yet to get my hands on some. I have used wet connections too, when the fit would be impossible, takes longer to dry. I don't mention it in videos, I have had too many people try to use it like white glue, but expect it to stick like in the video!

its supposed to remember a grin so id define the peaks a bit more with a black wash or something , otherwise pretty good, a good material to use to pull a pattern is one of those mesh mouth guards for paint ball/bb's , thats kind of what the originals version was before this.

if i can make a suggestion for cutting the angled grooves. most office stores or picture frame shops sell 45 degree bevel cutters. basically a flat tool that holds a razor blade at the right angle. i've found it's perfect for cutting fold lines in EVA, you just need to change the blade fairly often.
