୧୯୩୬ ମସିହାରେ ଓଡ଼ିଶା ସ୍ୱତନ୍ତ୍ର ପ୍ରଦେଶ ମାନ୍ୟତା ପାଇବା ପରେ ରାଜ୍ୟର ନୂଆ ରାଜଧାନୀକୁ ନେଇ ଜୋର ଚର୍ଚ୍ଚା ଚାଲିଥିଲା। ଦୀର୍ଘଦିନର ପ୍ରଶାସନିକ କସରତ ପରେ ଭୁବନେଶ୍ୱର ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ନୂଆ ରାଜଧାନୀ ହୋଇଥିଲା। ରାଜଧାନୀ ସ୍ଥାପନ ପାଇଁ ଭୁବନେଶ୍ୱରରେ ସମସ୍ତ ପ୍ରକାରର ଆନୁଷଙ୍ଗିକ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ଯଥା ଭଲ ପରିବେଶ ଓ ଜଳବାୟୁ, ପ୍ରାକୃତିକ ସୌନ୍ଦର୍ଯ୍ୟ, ଐତିହାସିକ କୀର୍ତ୍ତିରାଜି, କଳା ସ୍ଥାପତ୍ୟ, ଗମନାଗମନ ପାଇଁ ରାସ୍ତାଘାଟ, କୋଠାବାଡ଼ି ନିର୍ମାଣ କରିବାର ସୁବିଧା, ପର୍ଯ୍ୟଟନସ୍ଥଳୀ ଏବଂ ଭବିଷ୍ୟତରେ ସମ୍ପ୍ରସାରଣ ପାଇଁ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟାପ୍ତ ଖୋଲାସ୍ଥାନ ଥିବାରୁ ଭୁବନେଶ୍ୱରକୁ ହିଁ ନୂଆ ରାଜଧାନୀ ଭାବେ ବଛା ହେଲା।

ହଁ, କଟକ ରେ ଖାଲି ବନ୍ୟା ନଦୀ ଦେଖା ଗଲା। କଟକ ର ଐତିହ୍ୟ ଏବଂ ଓଡ଼ିଶା ପ୍ରତି ଅବଦାନ ର କିଛି ମୂଲ୍ୟ ନାହିଁ। ଯିଏ ଯେମିତି ଚଷମା ପିନ୍ଧିବ ତାକୁ ଦୁନିଆ ସେମିତି ଦିଶିବ। ତେଣୁ ଆମ ଓଡ଼ିଆ ଙ୍କୁ କଟକ ର ବନ୍ୟା ହିଁ ଦିଶିଲା। ଆଉ କିଛି ଦିଶିଲା ନାହିଁ। କଟକ ର expansion ନାଁ ରେ ଆମ ଲୋକ ପଛେ ୨୫ କିମି ଭୁବନେଶ୍ଵର କୁ ପଳେଇଲେ କିନ୍ତୁ ୮ କିମି ଚୌଦ୍ଵାର କୁ ଯାଇପାରିଲେ ନାହିଁ। କି କାଠଯୋଡି ନଦୀ ସେପଟେ ବାରଙ୍ଗ ଫୁଳନଖରା ଅଞ୍ଚଳ ବି ଦୂର ହେଇଗଲା। ଇତିହାସ ରୁ ଐତିହାସିକ ସହର କଟକ ର ନାମ କୁ ହଟେଇବା ଭଳି କର୍ମ ଯୋଉ ଜାତି କରିପାରେ ସେ ଜାତି ର ଗତି କୁଆଡେ ତାହା ଅତ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଦୁଃଖ ଦାୟକ
