To remember the prophesies in No Longer You. -I see a song of past romance (Suffering) - I see the sacrifice of man (Scyla) - I see portails of betrayal and a Brothers final stand (Mutiny) - I see you on the brink of death. I see you draw your final breath (Get in the Water) - I see a man that gets to make it home alive... but it's no longer you (Six Hundred Strike) He has now gone full Monster. The Ithaca Saga will include the second verse I see your palace covered in red. Faces of men who have long believed your death. I see your wife with a man who is haunting. A man with a trail of bodies. 🦉 So the Ithaca saga will be fun.

Quick thing, I think I see you on the brink of death is more thunder bringer (or maybe love in paradise) 1 because it would make sense because since almost every other prediction happened in the thunder saga, (and we skip wisdom saga because its told by athena's prespective, or love in paradise because he is literslly on the edge) 2: because it dosent make sense for 2 lines to predict the same moment when all the others dont 3 these are judt my opinions, but it does feel more satisfying

There are a couple more prophecies there in the background chants! One of which is not yet completed! "Siren's song" - Suffering "Scylla's throat" - Scylla "Mutiny" - Mutiny "Lightning bolt" - Thunder Bringer "Run Posaidon"(not confirmed, but pretty clear) - Get In The Water And "Kill all the suitors for love" - Odysseus Also "Brink of death" in my opinion is actually the moment in Love In Paradise where he's on the edge of the cliff.

Draw your final breath for sure is Get In The Water. There are no doubts at all. It would make sense the song Love in Paradise is the lyrics "I see you on the brink of death." Canonically, that island borders the underworld (at least, so I've heard,) and he did wash ashore. Hell, Calypso literally said, "I swore that you were dead when you washed up on my isle."

2 things do also need to be noted. 1) Jorge has noted that Poseidon in Epic: The Musical is a long range fighter. He doesn't have any powers that help in close range. Nornally this isn't a problem because people can't get close. 2) Gods can and have gotten their asses kicked by mortals. Diomedes stabbed Ares in the leg with some encouragement from Athena. Thanatos got chained up by a random ass king. And now Poseidon got his shit wrecked by a mortal using his own storm against him.

This is a major departure from the Odyssey. The gods specifically time his escape from Calypso's island while Poseidon is away (in Ethiopia I think) so he comes back to see Odysseus on the escape and tosses him around like a ragdoll, the goddesses Athena and Ino help Odysseus out and he manages to escape into the mouth of a river (on Scheria). In the Epic, the story starts after Calypso's island, we find Odysseus in Scheria where he tells the Phaeacians first about how he ended up on their island from Calypso's island. Charybdis swallowed his raft and he survived by clinging to a fig tree growing on a rock, Charybdis spat out enough of his raft to carry him to where Poseidon sees him [see above] After telling the Phaecians about his journey from Calypso'ss island they agree to give him passage to Ithaca, and beg him to tell them how he ended up at Calypso's from Troy, so he tells them everything before that. I really love this kind of nested narration that is very common in ancient and classical literature. We do not get direct in the moment narration of the encounter with Polyphemus, we get Odysseus's after the fact report on it, we get the version of the story Odysseus himself tells about a decade after the fact. Edit: ammended comment to reflect the fact that there is a confrontation between Odysseus and Poseidon, but nothing like Epic's version.

Favorite Details! Not Sorry For Loving You- The background vocals Calypso summons are her voice and Odysseus's. Because those are literally the only voices she knows. Dangerous- Danger has greeted Oddyseus with a smile SO MANY times (Lotus-eaters, Aeolus/Winnons, Circe, etc.) You would think he'd know to watch out by now... Charybdis- Odysseus actually recognizes Ithica. This is somehow just as heart-wrenching as the source material where he washes up on Ithica and doesn't know where he is. Get In The Water- It's so pathetic that Posideon has waited so long to do this. Has he been there since Ruthlessness? Doesn't he have better things to do? - Ody sounds more horrified to hear his wife and son will drown than when he hears that his entire kingdom will drown. -"I'll take your son and gouge his eyes" It all comes full circle. The literal definition of "an eye for an eye leaves everyone blind." - "Maybe you could learn to forgive" is really rich coming from Ody, whose fatal flaw is hubris -Ody and Posideon look similar, as if they were related. Long brown hair, tan complexions, and blue clothing. This similarity speaks to the fact that they are both monsters. -Polities is smiling, while Eurlochus is angry. In Pol's final moments, he wants Ody to live a better life. In Eury's final moments, he wanted Odysseus dead. -You can't really see his mother's face, because Ody wasn't there when she died, so he doesn't know how she looked either. -At the end of Love In Paradise, Ody tries to embrace death. At the end of this song, death embraces him. Both times, he survives, because "he can't afford to die." -Both the type of guitar and the animation style changed when Ody switched from being a man to being a monster. 600 Strike- This is the vengeance saga for multiple reasons. I thought it was because, like in the source, Posideon would enact his revenge. But it's also called Vengence because Ody gets revenge on Posideon. -The final line is about Penelope. Even as a monster, Ody does not forget his wife, his reason for everything he has done. But I fear it is becoming an obsession. Like Aeolus said, Ody believes that the ends really do justify the means.

There's actually a few very fun theories surrounding Get in the water and 600 Strike! 1. Poseidon's screams were harmonizing with Odysseus because after everything he went through with him, they were music to his ears 2. Ares was possessing Odysseus. Ody is Hermes' great grandson, but he's not a demi-god. So yes, he's strong, but not enough. Athena promised Ares that Ody would spill more blood to get home, so he was just paying out on her promise to him by possessing Odysseus and helping him weaken Poseidon

Since i already talk abt this everywhere, i will do so here aswell Calypso's situation is f-ed up, yes, her story is sad and all, but she's still a goddess, with powers way above Odysseus, and the way she chose to go through with this "love" for him was keep him trapped on her island for 7 or more years and well... sa him throughout those years, and since she's a goddess he literally had no other choice. This song is also very much her seeing herself as the only victim in this scenario, and basically blaming Odysseus for everything, trying to manipulate him to stay with her. It's very much giving what narcissistic people say to get out of a situation that isn't in their favor While Calypso's story is sad, I wish that more people realised that she's, in fact, horrible, and what she did is unforgivable

Some people hated the jetpack. I hate that the crew he betrayed is apparently now helping him fight Poseidon. Even the six he outright murdered, apparently. This is also completely throwing out the rule that the dead who were not given the proper drachma-in-mouth burial are stuck in limbo (as we saw in "The Underworld"). (Also, if Anticlea died of a broken heart, which is an actual thing that can happen, why was the mother of the king of Ithaca not given a proper burial? Why was she in limbo?)
@Oznerock15 сағат бұрын
I don't hate the jetpack - I do hate the fact he used it as a jetpack rather than to open a hole in the waves and disarm Poseidon (Which was what I imagined when first listening because it's a Wind bag how would you even control the flow of air to make it allow you to fly for long enough). You can't really make the jetpack idea work that well in a proper musical while also doing swordclashes. Regardless it could just be interpreted that Ody is seeing everyone who died because he's drowning - and thus halucinating from a lack of oxygen.

"I'm not sorry for loving you" can very easily be a villain song. The lyric "sorry my love is too much for you" sang in any other tone comes off very preditorial and victim blaming. Calypso is not getting any sympathy from me. Hermes appearance, like many character looks in Epic are based off the people that voice them. In Hermes case it's Troy Doherty

villain song so well done people fall for the villain's manipulation. it's honestly kind of a masterclass in how abusers turn things around to paint themselves as victims
@sorinamarcu535719 күн бұрын
I was thinking the exact same. The entire song is not her feeling sorry but her still persuading ody by manipulating emotions and the gigi animation for this shoe exactly that. Not to mention lyrics like "I would say I was wrong" do not mean that she is sorry for all she done to ody but rather she is like "I agree with you but do not believe I am in the wrong at all" or her not letting ody talk so he had no time to doubt her words. And also her impatient attitude grow with every lyric showing her persuasion do not work. Also she ask ody to lie to her, he did exactly that and she have a temptrom and if she was not sorry for loving him why she say "I hate that I fall in love with you" if you are not sorry you should not feel hatred for the feeling eather and accept the truth and let him go. Like I personally do not understand why the fandom look at this and the animation and are all "poor calypso"
@fermentedoj31519 күн бұрын
Yeah, you can be a victim and still be an abuser, it explains her actions more, but it doesn't excuse them. I like that even though she's trying to apologize, it still feels like she's blaming him, and when he tries to speak she snaps at him and just keeps going, and how Odysseus doesn't look back when he leaves. It shows you can still feel sorry for her without forgiving her. A lot of people don't seem to be catching that and think this is trying to redeem her, which it doesn't if you look into the language that's used in the song

@@sorinamarcu5357 can you imagine being alone on the island for so long, while you are immortal and can't leave? Finally someone appeared on your island and you fall in love with them, but it's not mutual. And then they leave, so you'll be alone again for god know how long. Idk about you, but to me part "I hate that I fall in love with you" looks very reasonable and even somewhat relatable. Also, it's not "I would say I was wrong", it's "I'll say I was wrong" and for me it seems like literally admitting the guilt. If it's not, then I have no idea how admitting the guilt should look like. I feel like you forget that emotions exist, tbh, I genuinely feel bad for Calypso.
@sorinamarcu535715 күн бұрын
@thehexagon_yt A man arrives unconscious, and her first instinct is to make love with him despite him telling you to leave him alone, toxic behaviour from the start. Also, idk about you, but if I was on an island alone from civilization, I would be the happiest person alive. Also, even if she said, "I'll say i was wrong," instead of "I would say I was wrong," the same meaning remains for me: I say what you would want me to do it but I do not mean it at all. If you feel empathetic for her, good for you. I have no bone in me to feel that way for a song with double meaning like this one.

The way I interpret 600 strike is that the spirits of his slain men, who were never given the proper rites to cross the river Styx in the Underworld, lent Ody their power so he could overcome Poseidon in that moment, where he was at least a little weakened after unleashing his ultimate move (which is super coded in Whitebeard from One Piece 😂).

Thank you for pointing out that mortals harming gods is a thing that can happen in Greek myths. They're gods, but polytheistic gods aren't the same as a monotheistic god. They're not omniscient, not omnipotent, and not limitless. Even if immortal, they can be wounded, disabled even. They can be tired, they make mistakes, they can be tricked and surprised. Not to mention gods operate on different rules than humans. What might seem trivial to a human might be an insurmountable obstacle to a god. Like how they couldn't take fire back once Prometheus handed it out. That simply wasn't something they could do.
