I'd been on the floor of that gondola crying. Great job Glenn

Looks like you had a great time. I can imagine how busy it was with 3 ships in

Lovely video- planning on going in August 25 with 2 kids. Not sure when you went but worried it will be too crowded and too hot. Not sure if allure or explorer feel less crowded. First cruise- any advice would be appreciated. Thank you

Glad you liked! We went mid-September and the temps were perfect. Crowds? If you are going during school holidays, expect 100%+ occupancy, but the Oasis class of ship in particular (to which Allure of the Seas belongs) does a good job of making it feel less crowded, due to the separate neighbourhoods. Santorini on the other hand you will just have to put up with the crowds if you want those fantastic views

Excellent video, very informative… my only questions are were you in port from 1pm - 11pm? Also how long did it take from the time you got into town until the time you were back on the ship? Also what time of day was that? I know you said you were on line for an hour. We are visiting Santorini in July on Odyssey and we see there are several ships in port that day. We were thinking of doing dinner in Fira before heading down the cable car but your video made us nervous to do that. We are in port late so I’m wondering if that’ll help on getting back. Thanks for your help…

Thanks so much for your comment, Jamie. Cannot remember the exact docking times, but it was certainly earlier than your scheduled times. I think we must have departed 6pm give or take an hour and we were one of the last tenders to leave. Would the cable car be quieter later? Who can say - I would check it out when you are there and make a call if you are comfortable dining in Fira and getting back down in time. You will certainly love the place!

May I ask how you found out there are several ships in port that day? We will also be there, on Odyssey, in July

This is such an amazing video it’s very honest and a real eye opener and if you’re planning a trip information like this is needed. Thank you gentleman.

Me gustan sus videos. En octubre viajaremos en el Odyssey of the Seas. Quiero preguntar, ningún paquete del tour ofrece el regreso al barco ?

You will have a great time! From what we remember, most of the tours from Royal have you returning via the cable car or the donkey trail; even the one we chose, which clearly stated coach transfer from/to the port, made us use the cable car.

Great video. Was the seas stormy during your trip as concern about motion sickness? Thanks
@AntandGlen6 ай бұрын
Thanks Steve, glad you enjoyed. No motion to speak of. Our cabin was midship which does help, but barely felt movement at all. Are you thinking of doing a similar itinerary?

We did the Greek and turkey circuit in June and that part of Greece was my least favorite because of the crowds etc 😢that to go bar made it easier by the cable car we got like 2 drinks while waiting 😂

With you on the crowds…and great tip on the bar while you queue for the cable car!

I’ve booked this for next September with the family. I’m just wondering for Santorini do you need to book excursion with the cruise ship or did you just make your own way? Also for the other stops would you book your own excursion or book with ship for convenience? Thankyou I’m first time cruiser. 😊
@AntandGlen6 ай бұрын
Congrats on booking your cruise! For shore excursions, you can book with the cruise line (more expensive, but guaranteed to get you back to the ship) or independently (better value, more flexible options, does carry a risk of missing your departure). For your first time, it might be good to use the ship’s excursions.

Very helpful Gentlemen! We're on the same route in May. I also have a terrible fear of heights and am not sure about the cable car.

Hey John and Louie, Glen here. I kinda had no choice and as such, coped as best I could. Getting on is a challenge as the steps to board the cars are very steep and once aboard, if you’re facing the direction of travel, you are going to see a whole lotta stuff you don’t wanna see (if you’re acrophobic, of course). Walking down is no better, in my opinion; very steep zigzag cobbled pathway down the cliff-side, shared with convoys of donkeys. But please don’t let that stop you exploring this beautiful island, just close your eyes, grit your teeth and it’s soon over.

Excellent as always, yet to visit Santorini but whilst it looks picture postcard beautiful it all looks a bit of a chore!

It is a chore, Andy, but one you gotta do at least once. Thanks for your comment!

We made the mistake of visiting Capri on the weekend when the cruise ship were there. So crowded could really enjoy the beautiful island.

Hey Tracy, good to hear from you! We would love to visit some of these places as a land-based trip and time it so we avoid the cruise crowds
