A unique Independence Day parade in 2020 that featured an ad-hoc parade float and procession of cars and trucks through the historic mill community of Oella, Md., the location of the MKCREATIVE | media office.
Shot at 60fps using a custom shoulder-rig supporting a Canon EOS M50 with a Canon EOS-M mount adapter connected to a Canon 40mm "pancake" lens and a SLR Magic Anamorphot-50 anamorphic adapter with ranger finder focus. Set the taking lens and the SLR Magic anamorphic lens adapter to infinity and then focus using the focus ring on the SLR Magic. A very easy way to achieve and hold critical focus.
An Atomos Shinobi monitor with the anamorphic desqueeze setting to "on" was used to compose and track moving subjects.
Since the Canon EOS M50 does not output "Clean HDMI", I could not use my Atomos Ninja V and record Apple ProRes. The recording was straight to an internal SD card using the Canon EOS M50's built-in h.264-based codec. Not great, but good for this test.
Editing and image normalisation done in Final Cut Pro. The original 60fps clips were conformed to 24fps in post. A MotionFX mLooks LUT was used for the final grade. This LUT was heavily customized to create the final look seen in the piece.
