You guys always do a great job! I'm up in Reading PA, and ive done quite a few s2k clutch jobs. I'm not a professional by any means just love these cars. One thing I would say should definitely be replaced if you're taking the flywheel out is definitely the flywheel bolts which are one time use. I always recommend to anyone with an s2k just to replace all the hardware when doing a clutch job. On my own personal s2000 I had a Honda tech replace the clutch and flywheel once and he didn't replace the flywheel bolts. A few months later I pulled the trans out and three of the flywheel bolts backed out! Always replace hardware!!!!! Lol....you guys are awesome and always go the extra mile

Awesome tip with the space grease on the sub frame bolt. Just struggled getting the front out and used a ton of penetrant and slowly worked the bolt in and out to not strip anything now I won’t have to worry thanks to that tip.

I always recommend a stock clutch for a stock setup. Nice factory pedal feel/engagement and the pressure plate diagram spring is perfectly matched for the hydraulics and the actual pedal assembly itself. I've seen broken welds on the clutch pedal assembly on 8th gen civic with either an upgraded clutch or a factory one that is so work hardened it's very heavy and the slightest bit of flex over a long period of time causes the spot welds to let go.

Excellent video like always! Have you tried the ACT HD pressure plate and OEM everything else on your table combo? Seems like that's the go-to set up for OEM feel and up to around 500 wheel hp
@andersw11525 жыл бұрын
This is the best setup, also adding the lighter Prolite flywheel makes it even better. This is what I run on my S. The FX friction discs are inferior to the OEM FCC one and they are going buzz and fail sooner.
@ajr51955 жыл бұрын
@@andersw1152 I just installed this set up in my supercharged ap2 and swapped to an OEM ap1 flywheel. It's almost back on the road. Wish LHT was closer to me would've just had them do it!

@peejayem47005 жыл бұрын
No, Exedy do not, and have never manufactured s2000 clutches. Exedy cleverly market their s2000 as “oem replacement” to be deceptive. Compare the disc spring housings of the genuine Honda FCC clutch vs the Exedy equivalent.

John, can you go into more explanation on why you and George aren't a fan of an aluminum flywheel? Does that only apply to the S2000 application? Been running the Clutchmasters FX300 and FX250 on the GD3 with their aluminum flywheel without an issue for a long time, would like to hear your feelings and experience on the subject. Did the owner of the car in the video go back to a stock one?
@LHTPerformance5 жыл бұрын
lcq4blackstar The main reason I think they are a little too light for street cars.
@lcq4blackstar5 жыл бұрын
Agreed, mine came out to 8lbs, probably just over half the OEM weight. I think 10lbs would be the perfect balance in that application. Once you adapt to driving a light weight flywheel it's a non issue. They really change a stock engine's characteristics, glad to hear there isn't some issue I'd have to worry about.

Very informative video. I’ve read that on the RSX the exedy OE replacement clutch is the same thing as the Honda oem clutch. Apparently that is not the case for the s2000?

How far do you push the seal in the back of the transmission. I replaced mine and ruined my new clutch because it started leaking so I was hoping for a little clarification before I redo the job again.
@LHTPerformance11 ай бұрын
I would look as the placement of the original seating position. You will see a mark on the shaft the old seal left behind. Make sure everything it lined up to prevent the seal folding over.

thanks for providing this video information. i will buy your oem s2000 kit from you. i noticed that you did not include the an oem fly wheel with the kit. does it mean that i don't have to replace my oem fly wheel? my s2000 is about 105,000 miles. if i need to replace my fly wheel, can i replace it with a lighter fly wheel? can you recommend any lighter after market fly wheel to pair with an oem clutch?

ACT HD pressure plate or the OEM pressure plate for the 2005 s2000? I heard there was crank walk with ACT HD pressure plate ....which i was also told is now resolved. I see your site has both set up.
@LHTPerformance2 жыл бұрын
There is added wear on the thrust bearings which can cause crank walk. There’s no perfect clutch apart from the OEM Honda clutch. Every clutch with added torque holding capacity has a trade off unfortunately, you just have to find the one that suits your needs.
@derekridenour48075 жыл бұрын
Guys, what about the bolts that are used to attach the flywheel and the pressure plate? Do those need to be replaced every time? What's the confusion with loctite on the 12 point flywheel bolts?
@JamesJonahJameson-MM2 жыл бұрын
Hey Dudes, I have a 92 Civic CX. I’m keeping it all OEM original. The D15B8 still has the original clutch and flywheel. Release arm is getting noisy so I’d like to change this out. I be surprised if the OEM is available but do you have a aftermarket compatible kit? I’m not running any hp. It only has 71hp. Just want to keep it running and reliable.
@LHTPerformance2 жыл бұрын
You can put an Exedy, just run an OEM / Nachi bearing. The bearing usually is the culprit to most failed clutches I’ve seen.
