Ingmar Bergman and Carl Dreyer come to mind when watching this superb examination of faith and meaning. These are disciples who consciously elect to remain true to their faith, even withstanding terrible foreboding periodically punctuated by cruel atrocities they witness as they tend to the needy. The acting is as good as its gets, with some of France's very best displaying their deep empathy for the characters they inhabit. The film certainly has deserved the great accolades it has received following release and will doubtless grow in stature with time.

I sincerely hope the Good Doctor doesn't do a Russell Crowe after his BAFTA bit (when he *didn't* present the Best Non-English-Language film to Of Gods And Men) was cut for time on TV.

I just saw the film. I like it when the two thieves take the kidnapped family to Mexico to this shitty trucker bar and suddenly everyone starts turning into vampires. And there's a guy with a cock pistol. It was awesome
