Hello everyone!
a very content filled vlog :-) of everything I did last week! it was lovely meeting with michelle, and i will actually be doing a painting for her new apartment in nyc! it's pretty big and i'm excited to see how it will turn out :") also- the completely impulsive tattoo- i love it so much it's a little takeout box with a succulent in it! after seeing all these thriving plants in rooted, i am determined to keep all my plants alive once i move out next year (so EXCITED).
however, moving into a much busy week- i finished my animation and not to brag- but i know that mine was one of the best ones in the class. however, my professor doesn’t like me very much and whereas she spent 30 seconds critiquing everyone else’s, she spent 5 minutes literally roasting mine. but it’s ok… i don’t like her either. (a quote from my lovely professor- “wow, for someone who i don’t see in class often, i guess you do know what you are doing!” so rude. i have been in class and she probably doesn’t notice me because i don’t really have any questions to ask her :/
then i spent a full day drawing/painting/putting together my design homework! i had this one well thought out which I’m very proud of, however I wasn’t happy with my execution in the end so i’ve decided to get it fabric painted (you’ll see it in the next vlog!!!!) hopefully i’ll like it much better. i will explain the meaning behind this piece in my next vlog too. the prompt for this homework- create a 12 celled storyline. i did something much different from the rest of the class, both concept-wise and style-wise and while my professor liked it to a degree, she also wanted me to do stuff that she would’ve done if it was her piece???which confuses me because this is my art and even though I explained how the meaning+execution ties into each other yet she doesn’t seem to get it. oh well.
i was a bit sad because i got into another fight with my boyfriend-- we always have miscommunication issues but we kind of figured it out. i was stressed that i was going to have another down-day but instead, i got to spend a full saturday with vickie :-) which i’m very happy about because it felt like i haven’t seen her in a while…even though she lives right down the hall! it also completely lifted my mood up :")
having a super busy week right now so wish me luck!

I’ve had similar problems with art professors - you give them your ideas & works and they don’t like it because the technique isn’t the same as the technique they use in their practice. We’re not paying to recreate your own works we’re paying to express things in our own ways and get even better at it!

Once a professor met one of his students. They started talking and the student said"I know all the techniques i have been studied and practiced for years i know...etc" As long as he was talking the professor field his already full cup of coffee till it overflowed. "What are you doing. It is full?" And the professor replied "Why should i teach a mind that is already full?" I am sure your ideas are unique but you should firstly recreate every technique they show you so you can create later your owns (First lesson they taught me in my university)

If you go to uni to express things in your own ways, go be an independent artist already, college and uni is not for you, your mindset is not for learning. Professors and teachers are not there to force their way of doing things on you. They know what will help you grow and develop your work. Thinking you are above their knowledge and in some cases wisdom is beyond ridiculous. Why pay money for people to help you if you dont want help?

i seriously applaud you for juggling your social life with school and saying it like this doesn’t seem that big of a deal but as a previous art student it’s honestly so hard if you’re not good at time management and tend to procrastinate. you have good work ethic but college art classes really made me anxious and i didn’t really enjoy how i felt despite being proud of what i’ve created. 😩 i have the same experience with shitty art teachers.. say no more. she’s just jealous. your art is amazing and i’m not at all surprised that you bring a different element to the table keep up the good work! i could also kinda feel the tension between u n the boyfriend but it’s okay that’s life. it’s a rollercoaster. thanks for sharing it’s reassuring to watch relatable creators on youtube💜 i love these vlogs it’s apparent that you put a lot of work into them. 💜

Oh I get your problem. That's a huge problem with art teachers, they sometimes tend to be rather subjective about works instead of trying to see what the student saw. But I made the experience that it gets better, also depending on the topics in class. You got this don't let this get you down. :)

My day was tiring since I didn’t sleep yesterday at all , and i have class tomorrow very early,my parents did their best to keep me awake so I can fix my sleep schedule . We went to the beach but we didnnt swim we were just watching the waves in silence . After we got back and bought lunch on the road and ate it when we came back home . I was SO tired i tried my best not to sleep, in the end I slept at 7 pm and i woke up at 2am anddd repeat.
