Can anyone explain to me why oh why Ghana persists with building open drains instead of the significantly easier to lay , quicker, safer, healthier (in a malarial climate) buried cylindrical drains as used everywhere in the West?

We don't the underground system to receive the water. All underground drainage systems must be well planned.

Yep.. I am baffled as you are.. The drainage size in main roads should be at least 4 to 6 feet deep and wide underground and made with cylinder or box culverts.. Residential areas should be about 3 feet deep by 2 feet wide. .... Its precast and all they do is excavate and fit them covered with interval by the road. As well as service opening for cleaning.. Abroad they use the truck that we use to suck our septic tank(man hole) at home. When there's a blockage at a point. Open the hatch and suck out the stuff.. Its only little stuff which will go into the drains not plastic bag and bottles.. It baffles me.

Amasaman to kasoa using the obeyeyie road come and see how horrible the road is and three junction to obom come and see again from Abease to sapema and opa come and see how bad the road is and look at what the MCE is saying which road is under construction,,,,, instead of you to be one with the MP and help the town's you are talking about what is not true
