Off-Grid (4 Season) Aquaponics Greenhouse- installing the Solexx Panels-

In this video we install the Solexx Panels to our Off-Grid Aquaponics Greenhouse. We have designed it to act somewhat like a sunken greenhouse using the ground level to help control internal temperatures.

After 2 years, how has Solexx been doing? Have you used other plastic film coverings in the past? If so, how does it compare?

So far it's still holding up well. Greenhouse was 68 deg F last night at 5pm at 8am next morning it was 52 deg F with it 29 outside. I don't like not being able to see thru it but i think the insulation factor is worth it. Our 1st greenhouse uses Tufftex It works well too. You can see thru it but it doesn't maintain heat as well. Thanks, it works great, the coldest it's gotten is 42 when we got 3 days of below freezing with a low of 15. That's with the wood stove on low. With sun it will hit 100 with the outside in the 30s.

I have wondered if a heat gun might help to install or just wait for the hotter day to install.

Not sure if it would help. I've been told to use chicken wire first pull it right and then put down the sollex. Hopefully i don't need to do it again but if i do that's what i would try

So far yes. The tomato plants are up into the rafters. I haven't had it thru a winter to see how/if it helps keep the heat in. Just in case I've added a wood stove so that the fish don't get to cold.

what % of light does it allow though it?

This is what I found on the Internet. "The unique Solexx greenhouse covering transmits 70-75 percent of the available light. Most plants only need 40 percent light to grow, but 70-75 percent available light is the optimal growing range. Even on cloudy days, your greenhouse has a pleasant, soft glow inside."
