Probably the best Ryan's kzbin.infoUgkxGZedDTcDfgD7fG_uU4esfx_EgxzlY2_1 Plans on building a shed is hardly ever found. And Ryan takes the mystery out of different types of foundation options, etc. He even shows how to build a shed with different designs. Very comprehensive, covering different roofing materials, siding, etc.

People from warmer climates will never understand the wonders of frigid weather. It’s so peaceful. The smell of burning wood. The crunch of the snow under your feet. And a cup of hot cocoa as you sit beside the fire.

I can't explain enough how much I love these videos. The peace, quiet and tranquil remoteness, and the escapism it gives us viewers. What is even better is Kyle never ONCE, pleads us to "like and subscribe", he simply enjoys what he is doing. The anti-youtuber youtuber 😄 And I have no words left for Skeeter, despite decapitating Santa, he is the absolute dog of dogs.

Yep, growing up by leech lake we'd put up seventy cords of wood per year to heat the house, Milkhouse, and water heater for the cows. The cows kept the barn pretty warm. It would get to -30° F quite often in the winter but you'd still have to clean the barn the next morning. Only problem was that the air would get so dry and cause nose bleeds. Have to keep water cooking on the stove.

That was a informative video showing the daily routine that you have to go through on a remote property, stoking the fire, tending to the chickens frequently, boiling water frequently, starting your vehicle, charging your solar batteries, a lot of different things people take for granted, thanks for showing us what it’s all about! Happy new year Kyle, Cierra and of course Skeeter! Have you had any wildlife on your trail cams? Kuddos to you and your lifestyle, love your work ethic, keep it up young man
@gupers4680 Жыл бұрын
The woodstove with glass door is nice. Some suggestions: If you do not hive firebrick lining on bottom and about 1/2 way up the sides and back wall it is definitely worth adding. A masonry blade in a skillsaw can cut the pieces to fit. Another thing is NOT TO MAKE ALL SMALL STICKS of wood. Leave some larger or "fatter", same length. They will take longer to burn, less repeat filling of woodstove. Use damper on your metal pipe chimney to regulate burn speed. Yeah, I put heat lights out for my chickens here in ID mountains. Add straw, cheaper than alphalfa (or whatever) and chickens can be warmer and like to eat straw as well. Where is Kitty? I am trying to train my cat to be "OK" in cargo-trailer-camper, similar to Kitty. Make a shelf by under any window and Kitty will like it. Cheers.

i love everything you're doing here, but you should try to get those solar panels at least 2 - 3 feet off the ground to help keep the snow off, being black i'd expect unless its really cold most snow would melt slightly and slide off on its own with even a little sun light. being on the ground if it slides off it just piles up at the bottom, requiring you come along and clean it off

I wonder if you could build a box (out of insulation board, or wood and regular insulation), inside the chicken coop that they can all fit into and huddle together if they get too cold? That way it wouldn't take much insulation and all their heat can fill that smaller area. Thing is, like you told me before, they can withstand really cold temps so they might not need it much, maybe 3 - 5 times a year. So not sure if it'd be worth it or not, or if there is even enough space inside the coop. Of course taking them inside the house is cheap, really quick and easy too lol

Do you use larger round logs on the fire before you go to bed? That is the way I was always taught. It takes much longer to burn through a round log than a split one. If you were to put 2 nice sized log pieces in, you may be surprised what you have in the morning on those cold nights. Maybe you already do that? Cheers man.
