What an awesome lifestyle! A washing machine and a pantry closet would be all that I would want to add inside. A screen porch outside. Thinking about building my retirement home on a small piece of a mountain that I bought. This would almost perfectly suit my needs. Thanks again for sharing this with us.

People in Appalachia have lived in cabins for generations,people of low income have lived in this type housing long ago and still do ! So this isn’t anything NEW ! However the cabins are very nice and cute ! And their surroundings are very peaceful appearing ! Very beautiful ! ❤️👍😇🍀

Great video. I think people just don't understand what off grid means. It doesn't mean you don't have electricity. It means you are not tied to any local utility. No power company or water company. Cabin is looking great.

In late spring when I stop using my wood stove, I dust it well and apply a light coat of olive oil to the cast iron to prevent rust from forming during humid summers.

Insulate the battery box to regulate in the cold season.. love watching the progress! Just leave box and build a 2x4 wall and new sheets of texture 111 on the exterior and insulate so you don’t even remove or have to mess w inside the box :-)

I watched your cabin walk-through vid first and realized it was from 4 years ago so searched out other vids. This is a nice update, and you did install a picture window between the 2 lights like you said you were going to do. 👍 I wish I would have known about Stove Polish years ago when I had my woodstoves. Do you live in your cabin full-time or is it a getaway place?

A video on your solar power would be nice. I have an rv on some property, that i power the lights with a 300 w solar panel and 1 marine battery. Im trying to figure out whether i want to go full solar when i build my cabin , or bring in city power. Im really close to city power , and it would probably be cheaper. My property 11(acres) is outside a small Texas town. But , i am a little secluded , with only 3 neighbors close by. I recently had a 20 × 32 foot rv cover built over my rv , and man did that make a difference. After i build my cabin , i will convert the rv cover into a garage. I catch rain for my water supply, and will be building a drain field type septic system. I really like your set up, the cabin is about the size im thinking of building. Maybe , just a little bigger if i dont have high ceilings. PS it's a weekend get away for now.

Is that $1000 per battery??? Or for all of them? Do you have an outside job? Also, you have absolutely no water, sewer, or electric bills, right? Just propane?
@mekon19713 жыл бұрын
That's for all of them. Those batteries are about $110-$120 each.

If the batteries are $1000 each, that's $10,000 a year + for electricity if you need to replace them every year. Hard to believe!

They'll probably last five years or longer 'cause they stay in one fixed location. They're not subjected to road salt, potholes, fender benders and high underhood temperatures.
