These guys are not living off grid in any way shape or form. They're consuming triple the amount of fossil fuels and resources that they would if they lived on a cul-de-sac in the middle of suburbia. nothing about what they're doing would be considered off-grid because the only reason you go off grid is to get away from fossil fueled electricity. But when you just burn your own fossil fuels for your own electricity out in the middle of nowhere, that's not off grid That's just bringing the destructiveness of the grid out into the middle of nowhere where it's more pristine and you're doing more damage. I wouldn't take advice from these guys on anything they're doing. They're all about the subscribers and they will do anything for that include lie to everybody... Which is painfully obvious.

@@ezmeraldadudortoka7549 You sure write authoritatively for someone so uninformed!!! I guess it has something to do with schools teaching confidence without competence. Do you know what a "grid" is, in reference to the vernacular of homesteading? Try looking up "electrical power grid" - make Google your friend. In addition to being off-grid, they're also devoid of all other utilities. While you're bathing in hot water that magically shows up in your faucet, and dumping it down the drain which you have no idea where it goes, these guys are out showing in the rain. I'd wager their combined carbon footprint is a fraction of yours alone, all things considered. So maybe you should climb down off your high horse and learn a thing or two about reality. A little humility too!

Thanks much for the video. I love Panama. My late wife and I lived there on our sailboat. We sailed from the US and all through the Caribbean E and W. We ended up spending a year in the San Blas Islainds, living with the Guna people. After transiting the canal, we sailed the Las Perlas, and isla seca, David area for nearly another year. My new wife and I were in Panama a few weeks ago. We were all ready for a trip to Boquete when the Corona virus hit. Had to fly back home. A concern that I have is that sometimes expat communities become expensive over time because or the expats driving prices up: A. By being willing and able to pay more and , B. By getting into businesses and wanting to make money from the community. A good example of that is San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico. An expat community that we liked much ( bought a lot there). But prices kept climbing up until it was almost like the US. So many businesses were owned by expats that the Mexican charm and economy were dwindling away. I assume that that is not happening in boquete? I hope not as it looks like a very promising area for us in the future. Love what you are doing! We lived. “Off grid” for over 25 yrs on out sailboat, having to be almost totally self sufficient. Loved it. Now ready for something different. Looks like you are having a wonderful adventure! Thanks again for the video. Will have to check out more.

Great couple and I definitely would like to have people like you as my neighbors (living in Panama too). But just to not see all of that only in rosy colors, I would mention alternative point of view: People usually have around 15-20 years of their most efficient time to advance in the profession they chose and to secure future. Apparently it's not that long period of time and it passes extremely fast. And taking away few years from that time is a big chunk and it's extremely hard and in too many cases impossible to catch up with later on. I am not talking only about break in professional development. You did mention many times "excitement" and "adventure". And taking that time off to enjoy life is very often related with changing habits and work attitudes. I know, I know, you said you managed to generate income from youtube. But at the other side you realize that it may shrink extremely fast and even the maintenance of the current level takes lots of effort, sometimes even more than it is worth. I just came way too often across people who all they managed is they aged and did not achieve anything except having fun for too long. Then when they woke up in their 40s, they realized most of their peers advanced a lot in their careers and now it would be too late for you to start climbing that from the very bottom. Are you not concerned about it? Have you noticed that even while your family is cheering for your adventure, maybe your parents are worried that that short break is taking you too long? Do not understand me wrong. It is brave to do what you are doing, requires lots of curiosity. So all the best to you.
@elgringoec4 жыл бұрын
That's true, but not everybody can or wants to manage the stress associated with building a dedicated professional career. With their life skills, they'll be able to make it and be happy, and they have good family backing in case of emergencies and a helpful inheritance to likely utilize at some point. It doesn't take much income to live on once you learn how to control your impulses and handle your affairs.

I think we picked up Trent and Allie from these guys. They're collecting from their bus to the one tank adjacent, the original four tanks are planned to be fed from the shed/workshop roof they're currently featuring in their videos.

For those who disliked this video - far be it for me to try to understand the paralysis of your prefrontal cortex - so let me enlighten you a bit. Jordan and Kaylee are completely transparent and willing to put themselves out there and share their life experiences with the world. For that, they should be commended. Taking it a step further, they are genuinely kind, no, I don't know them personally, but it translates through the visual and auditory medium that is technology. They without even knowing have inspired many to change their life perspective and that in and of itself is an act of kindness. So, with that, the next time you decide to put a thumbs-down, take a second to ask yourself - why?
@121dough4 жыл бұрын
I am subscribed to their channel and have been for a while. There are times that they do things that make you cringe but they are learning a lot of this stuff from scratch so you have to give them that. If someone didn't like their story or the video and gave them a thumbs down, you have to take it in stride. Not everyone will enjoy their story or be able to identify and sympathize with their plans or dreams. A thumbs down means that someone actually watched this and that's not a bad thing....they get a lot more thumbs up and don't need someone reading dislikers the riot act. Just chill.

So if they sell coffee to local Panamanians, they had to get a Work Visa, correct?. And they have an Export business by exporting coffee to the US. VERY interesting!.

Is metal cheaper and/or easier to get than wood? I note that you build most things out of metal.
@PanamaRelocationTours4 жыл бұрын
There is a problem with termites in Panama so wood is not used for building anything except cabinets and doors.. and even then a special termite resistant wood is used.

Hello Maxine. I should tell you that I knew this guy who lost his job in Oklahoma after he was laid off from, ironically, an insurance company. He is diabetic and had some insulin stashed away but knew that it would only be a matter of time before he ran out. He went to Panama as a tourist but then decided to stay once he saw that even without insurance the doctors visits and meds cost the same or less than when he had a HMO in the US, except he was not paying for a plan. Today he is a permanent resident in Panama and has insurance. I remember him telling me that as a diabetic, having moved to Panama saved his life! Being in Panama as a resident is like having Medicare For All. To get a more diverse opinion that my mere hearsay, ask Jackie what her views are regarding moving to Panama as a diabetic. I think that you will be very pleasantly surprised.

If I remember correctly, you guys spent time in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico with Trent and Allie. I've spent many months in San Miguel and get the feeling Boquete is similar in that there is also a small group of foreigners living there, mostly older and retired? How would you compare the two towns? When you say property is expensive near downtown Boquete, are we talking $200,000 to as high as $1,000,000 the same as in the center of San Miguel? I also chose to buy about 15 minutes outside of town and got 5 acres for $20,000. Am considering selling it as San Miguel is growing a bit too fast for me...the population is upwards of 200,000. I really enjoy your channel - thanks for sharing!

Boquete Panama is a LOT more affordable than San Miguel and not as crowded.

Hi, I really enjoy watching ur Utube channel, as u were saying that ur van license expires? Then Why not take the engine out and sell it to buy any items for ur property. Having the engine sitting there is not good? Money is the power that needs to keep ur property going? I can't wait to buy my own plot someday with the right moment and time. Stay safe, thanks for sharing.

I had similar but different idea. I thought why permanently mount the bus? Live in bus long enough to build hour then get rid of bus which is kind of an eyesore in the beauty that surrounds them, however I understand they are attached to it.
@elgringoec4 жыл бұрын
It's a higher value asset with the engine intact. It's been legally imported so they have the option of selling the entire vehicle should they ever so choose.
