Episode 13 on the traditional log cabin series!
I just graduated from high school and want a big challenge in life. I decided that I alone with only hand tools and raw power was going to build my own traditional off grid log cabin by hand in the Swedish forest. And film my journey on my own and make these videos for my subscribers.
In this episode I am taking down the cover and starting the build again of the log cabin using only hand tools.

Hi, Erik. It just occurred to me to ask if you hear all the sounds of nature around you while you’re working or are you in the zone so much, you don’t notice. I, for one, love the sounds of the different birds and the wind in the trees. It’s as if they are playing a melody just for you, to honor what you are doing in their midst. You’re living your best life, whether you know it or not. I’m so happy to be able to see it and encourage you as you accomplish each milestone in your dream endeavor. Gotta love you, Erik!!! My body is 76 years old, but I’m as young as you in my mind. Thank you for giving us old folks something to look forward to on KZbin!!!❤🥰😘🤗

At 72 can not imagine how much work your doing. Would have loved something like that fifty years ago but not on Gulf coast of Texas where I was raised. Great workmanship.

I like the subtitles. The sounds of nature, the chopping and sawing without long winded verbal dialog makes for very satisfying viewing. I admire your ability to work alone. Clearly you are not afraid of hard work. I look forward to your next vid.

Many different designs for each type of project are also included. For example, there are hundreds of designs kzbin.infoUgkxb2mhCug-GkCWrq69Ce2I0nM0D4QpxAqu for outdoor buildings, from small sheds all the way up to a complete stable. Choose whatever type of shed or storage house is right for you. Pick from fancy ones or more utilitarian designs.

I enjoyed the subtitles very much - they are an excellent addition. I do have a minor suggestion which you may have read from others. Safety glasses might be a good idea to protect your eyes from wood splinters and chips. Don't make the same mistake I made when I was young. It only takes an instant and you could be blinded. I know they can be annoying, but you only have one set of eyes. You work very hard and it is a pleasure to watch your progress and your determination. Thank you for sharing your videos.

Erik, I like how you finish what you can and clean that up before moving to the next thing ie; folding the cover neatly and removing all the nails from the boards. That kind of workplace ethic is what helps prevent accidents and saves on materials because you’re taking care with items you use. I love that you use the wood shavings for your fires.🤔 I only have one tiny critique that has nothing to do with your work…..you really need to engage and play with your dog(s) more! 🎾🥏🦮

Using dry dowels in wet logs gives you a tighter fit! when the wet logs dry the hole gets smaller. When the dry dowels suck up the moisture from the wet logg they will expend! Keep up the good work 👌💪

I really like the new subtitles. I saw you eating lunch. I was wondering about what you normally eat on the job? I imagine that all the work uses a lot of calories. So what do you normally eat? Also wil we see any more of the dog? What breed is it? How old is that tractor and what is the manufacturer? It seems like an old tough machine. The kind they don't make anymore.
@ErikGrankvist
@ErikGrankvist 4 жыл бұрын
The dog Alice has got puppies, it is a Kavalier King Charles Spaniel. The traktor is fully original old Ferguson "Grålle" from 1950s, these have dragged a lot of timber in Sweden when they came. This might not be the best but I don't eat much when I am out working. I eat a big breakfast and sometimes have something small like a sandwich with me and work 7-9 hours. Then eat much for dinner, real "husmanskost". Then sometimes I work a little more in the evening and have a very small evening "snack". I don't like having to take a big break eating or having with me a lot of food when working, but this is just me. There is probably a better eating schedule for me. Thank you for the questions 👍
