Hey Dave, Happy New Year! Lord, how I wish I could have joined you for breakfast!! Funny story - about 30 years ago now. My wife worked with another lady who had a 'hobby farm' north of Reno, NV. One morning she brought my wife a dozen eggs from her chickens... that time of year when they produced more eggs than they could consume. (Do I need to say anything more about eggs from chickens that are on the ground, scratching for their food)?! A couple days later, we're at the Feed & Grain, buying a big bag of food for my dog (Akita). I saw a huge bag of chicken feed and told the clerk, "Add a bag of chicken feed to my bill," and had my wife give it to her friend the next day at work. Well, long story short, I had Farm Fresh Eggs for several years afterward!! "Life's Valuable Lesson #27." Do something nice for someone without asking, and in all likelihood, it'll turn in STELLAR RESULTS! BTW, That was a beautiful repair on that axe handle!! When I saw you drilling holes through the handle, I thought, "Oh NO! Bolts won't hold it." Buddy, YOU DID IT RIGHT!!!!! I'd be proud to call you my neighbor...

Nice repair, the cabin looks toasty warm in side, can`t wait to see the breezeway and other future builds, that is the best seasoned cast iron pan I have seen, great meals no doubt, all the best to ya sir, I am in Michigan and we too had Elliot pass through, not much snow but crazy wind and cold for 4 days, 35 deg feels warm now.

Thank you Joe 🙏 we use cast iron for just about every meal it stays oiled. Stay safe thx for watching

Watching your lifestyle I'll have to teach you how to start a fire with a bow drill when I come out to lay that stone up behind your wood stove! Haha... I also worked for a youth program for about ten years and one of the requirements they had was to start fires by hand with a bow drill. Most of the youth hated this aspect until they actually learned how to do it themselves. Watching a young persons face turn from anger and frustration into pure joy and accomplishment is something I'll never forget.

Thank you and yes that is a great skill. I teach that as well as survival and anything bushcraft. Most of my children know how to start a fire from nature. I have been making primitive bows and arrows since childhood my other KZbin channel is @meadlongbows 🙏

@Dave Mead Does I'll have to check out you're other channel. I'm getting ready to build myself a home, sounds like I could use your help a lot more than you could use mine! All joking aside, our world needs more men like yourself to show young men what that actually looks like. Not to mention what young ladies might expect from those men. Respect to you and your family sir.

You might want to get a splitting maul instead of a fireman's axe for splitting wood!
