It looks awesome, but you are about to have HUGE problems, it will not stop settling! At least 3 - 5 seasons. Given the fact that you had massing gaps between the logs, yours might take even more time.

@@EddiTaru thank you but you have no idea what you are talking about. This is the second cabin I built like this and the first is 12 years old and zero settling. This technique removes the settling problem from inferior methods. I learned it from someone that has had zero issues with hundreds of cabins built like this for more than 50 years

@@tribeofdavid8 Interesting. I too built similar way, not your way, but the typical log house, and boy no matter what you do it just seems like it never wants to stop moving. Where can I learn about this method? Is there a book I can read?

0:39 I noticed the tile for the floor is installed before framing. I would've first framed everything leaving the floor with the sheet wood to attack the sidewalls to. Then after everything is framed and roof is on including interior walls then I would've done the tile/panels for the flooring.

Thats insane. I first thought whats is this guy doing? but than you made a whole house! I didnt knew there would be this much insulation needed, but what a ton of machinery and experience can do! I wonder how you made the lighting fixtures and running water etc. and what overal costs were, because you can probably sell that house for 500k now!

A family built home is wonderful! Filled with pride and great memories! I’m not a builder. I’m just a 71 year old woman… The ONLY catch I see and wonder about… I’m at the tail end almost of your build… Not sure if you’re going to put regular walls up over those logs…just wondering if that orange insulation is going to be healthy for your lungs…as it heats up? Chemicals are such hidden dangers! Hope you’re now living your best life, in what appears to be your forever home!🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺

I took the log house building class at Skip Ellsworth's Bar "E" Ranch School for Log House Building through the Experimental College at the University of Washington in 1979. In the old, original site in Redmond. My recollection is the tuition was $30. I visited and helped build some of the Duvall main house and attended meetings held there as well. In a two day course I was able to understand the advantages/disadvantages of each style of log house construction, what tools were essential, the skills to build a log home, the options available as to roofing, and many other important concepts. I have a small log house built on my property made of peeled hop yard poles. I could tell your place was influenced by Skip's teachings. I look forward to viewing the full set of videos you've produced.

Building a huge log house from crooked trees in just nine months is an extraordinary demonstration of both craftsmanship and resourcefulness. Using irregular, naturally curved trees to construct a large, livable home adds complexity to the project, but it also highlights the builder's ability to work with natural materials in their raw form.

Building an off-grid cabin in the woods over nine months is a challenging yet fulfilling experience. The process involves a deep connection to the environment and requires practical skills in construction, carpentry, and self-sustainability. Once complete, the cabin becomes a serene retreat, allowing you to live harmoniously with nature while relying on renewable resources and minimalistic living.
