Off Grid Rocket Stove Water Heater Testing !

Welcome back. In this video we get to testing the custom built Rocket Stove water heater. The stove is 100% stainless steel and fully capable of heating water for off grid applications, camping, or just plain having fun. Let see how well it preforms. There will also be a full build video released to showcase in detail how I made this unique rocket stove. I hope you enjoy the adventure!

Really like the design. Im gonna try one in a few weeks when i get some money for steel. I wanna make a portable one for showers in the van camping.

i might add another semi-sealed chamber at the base for ash, should help with the build up, and keep the draft through the bottom

you may consider making the top stack collector as a side on cap to enable easy tube cleaning, since they are going to clog due to the combustion gas condensation.

You are correct. However because everything is SS you can just fire it dry and it actually burns any creosote or build up easily.

You're doing it the hard way. My (pellet) rocket stove water heater has ONE 1/2" copper pipe running up the inside of the flu and heats water lickety split. I can fabricate one ( cut and weld parts) in about 20 minutes.

I completely agree with you! The heat transfer rate of copper is just so much better. Also keeping it to one loop is simple. That’s how I made my other hot tub heater. It’s not a rocket stove but uses 40’ of 3/4” over a big fire and works great. I think I am going to build a 10” and use a single loop copper coil in the flue like you said. Sometimes we learn the hard way lol. Sure improved my stainless welding tho! 😂

@@CenterLineDesigns NO LOOP All I did was put a single run of 1/2" soft copper in at the bottom - straight up the flu and out at the top. I soldered on fittings so I can connect it to a standard storage-type water heater. It self-pumps using thermosiphoning. Maybe I should shoot a KZbin Short and toss it up on my channel. Tap my icon to find my channel, only if you want (I'm not looking for subscribers).

By loop I mean single run but circulate to my hot tub. We are on the same page. I have made a few different water heaters.

try to put fire brics in your rocket stive to retain more heat.

Yes I have thought about that. You would just have to make it much larger to have room for them.

Base is pretty good. You think 2% would be any different! It’s very stable
