The film studio space has been using the 500w of solar panels to both run the shop and test electronic equipment. This means that I am constantly switching back and forth between charge controllers and inverters. To fix that issue I am installing another set of two 250w panels dedicated to running electronics and I am also installing a 100w panel for use with power stations that can only handle 100w. The mount looks just like the other one that has been in place for a year.

The good thing about not cutting the Unistrut is time saving, no scraps and great for use later for future expansion.

That is very true. Worked out well in this case and I think will also work out well on the back of the house when I extend more panels there as well.

I'm betting you are going to end up putting more wire in the conduit, you should pick up a bucket of Pull string and leave the sring in the pipe. Anytime you need to add wire you tie a new piece of pull string to the old string and tie your wire onto the new piece and then pull both through the tube by yanking on the pull string it will make getting around the corners much easier and you can get closer to the 50% full conduit that you want to shoot for. You're also going to want to cap the uphill side but leave room for the downhill side to drain out. Water will condense in the pipe even without moisture getting in other ways and will eventually make bad things happen with with electricity although you are using DC and not AC. .

When hooking multiple panels up negative to positive dose that end up doubling the voltage? (Like with battery’s) If your charging a 12v system would it be better to have both red wires together and both negotiate wires together?
@LandtoHouse

Panels connected negative to positive does add the panel voltage together while keeping the amps the same. When you wire panels in parallel the voltage stays the same and the amperage adds together. Then you have series parallel that adds both.

Congratulations on finding a place where there are no environmental related incidents. No wind, rain, snow, bears, elk, moose, elephants, fire, lightning, aliens, and 4 wheelers. 😊

So far this setup has worked really well. We do have rain of course and a little bit of snow but not a lot of problems with wildlife.

@@LandtoHouse I’m glad you saw through my wit, I live in Orlando and I don’t understand how your septic system is on the side of a hill unless of course the main house is further up the hill. Also, why not put the panels on the shed roof as that cable run introduces loss, right? Anyway it’s nice to see a functioning off grid setup! Share your inverter / battery setup. Thanks!
