After taking it with me for a 2000 mile trip from Florida to Pennsylvania and sleeping in it 4 nights in cold, snowy weather, here is my review of the ‪@OffGridTrailers‬ Expedition 2.0. To some it all up, I love the thing. I hated turning it back in to Peter of Southern Wild Expeditions!
So check out my walkthrough of the trailer and hear my observations on it.
As always thanks for watching! And if you want to take this trailer for a spin, here's how you rent it for yourself.

Excellent walk through. Is there insulation or even heating for water tank and water lines? Otherwise how could it be used in below freezing?

Thanks very much! I’m not sure and that is an excellent question (that a guy from Florida wouldn’t think of). I will find out the answer and post it here.

@@SSL0707Star Okay. I messaged Off Grid Trailers and Chris Miller gave me a call to answer my questions. The water tank itself is inside the insulated portion of the trailer, so you have some protection from freezing there. The issue that remains are the connections and the lines to those connections which are outside the insulated area. Insulation could be added to the box that the water connections are in, but barring running the furnace all the time (which would eat up your propane) those connections are still apt to freeze. With enough 12V power available, perhaps a small heating element would be an option. But all that being said, this is a normal situation with campers and RVs. Water during winter is a challenge.

@@NathanKingOverland I just looked up the Mission-very sweet set up. I think I have landed on either staying with the tent (and we actually sleep mostly in the vehicle) or moving to a slide in that will really up the game and be all weather. Just hard to make that jump.

@@dickinaroundoutdoors8609 I hear you. I still love my tents and my swag. The trailer is tally something that sweetens the deal for Mrs. King Overland. And I travel to say, it was really nice to jump into a heated camper in the snow and freezing weather in Pennsylvania.

Nathan, great video! We have one on order and I’m preparing my 2021 4Runner TRD, did you think it needed trailer brakes and maybe airbags for the rear suspension? Your thoughts on towing it with your 4Runner?
@NathanKingOverland
@NathanKingOverland 2 жыл бұрын
Hey John. Thanks for watching. Trailer brakes are a must. I installed a RedArc brake controller shortly before my trip. And yes, I think the airbags would be a great enhancement for the rear suspension. I’m planning to get those installed on my 4Runner soon. Overall, the 4Runner towed it well, even with a full tank of water. But I don’t think I would tow anything heavier than that.

Hi, for a Subaru outback 2024(towing capacity 3500lb) which option would be the best? Thanks
@NathanKingOverland
@NathanKingOverland Жыл бұрын
Hey! Thanks for watching. I think this specific trailer fully kid it out would be on the heavy side for a Subaru outback. However, if you rented one without the rooftop tent and waited until you got to, or near your destination to fill up the water tank, the Subaru outback might be able to do it, but if you’re talking about just renting a camping trailer in general, there are very cool options for In addition to this specific trailer on Outdoorsy. The next time I rent one, I plan to find one in the area I am traveling to, and just use it there rather than rent one in my area and then trailer it all the way across the country to the location where I want to camp.

Well, It's got a vented roof with a ceiling fan. With the windows cracked and the fan buzzing away, I bet it would cool off nicely inside. But what do you mean 3 seasons? Florida only has 2---Summer and Hurricane Season. And they overlap! Thanks for watching, Ryan!

As an old ironworker I would like to know, how does the inside stay warm? Steel and aluminum, being metal, will radiate both heat in the summer and cold in the winter. Is there a separation panel in the construction that prevents temperature transfer?

Excellent walk through. I absolutely love my trailer and highly recommend OGT as their customer service is excellent! I have a similar walk through of mine if you're interested: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZKYcpd3m6abbsU. Couple things to note: It's best practice to disconnect the hose from the propane tank while in transit (fire department will thank you), which gets it out of the way based on where you place it. I use the under sink bucket catch method too, but only so I can keep track of how much water I'm using. Otherwise, you could attach a hose to snake the drain water away from camp. I don't have the advanced Max Fan (I have the standard model without remote), so I don't know if you can manually raise the lid or not, but when camping in the rain, I don't raise it all the way up which helps keep the rain out. As of yet, I've had no rain entering the cabin.
