I have the smitybuilt 2781 ( big one ) and the plastic output hose melted ( just after the rubber part ). Just taped the hose and it works like a champ. Best performance for the price and still works after 6 years. 37" x 12.5 R17

yeah, it sure gets hot at that point.

This is Great and actually using 35s not 31s or 33s which is what most portable compressors are rated for. I like how you were airing all four at the same time. Thank you very much!

The tire valve is really restrictive, so the compressors are happier airing 4 tires at once. We often go on the trail with 2-3 of our Jeeps. The back vehicle remains the air source and we simply move the other Jeeps in front of it and flip the air lines forward. We can often get 3 Jeeps aired up as quickly as some need for one (either with the Smitty 2781 or the ARB Twin).

The Morflate makes a huge difference in inflation time. I did not realize it until I watched your video.

This is a similar system. It’s impressive how the tire valve creates resistance, and how the air compressor “sees” less resistance when supplying air to 4 valves simultaneously.

Thanks for the test! Exactly what i was looking for

That’s all 4 at once right? Good to know the Viair can handle a 4 tire inflation system… now you need to test out the Napa Maxi Trac compressor

Correct, all 4 tires at once. I’ll see if I can find one. Thanks

Considering the ARB Twin costs 4x the price of the Smittybilt 2781, it's safe to say the Smittybilt 2781 is the best bang for the buck.
@EricCantin3 жыл бұрын
Pretty much. However it really depends on the intended use and tolerance for equipment to fail out on the trail.

Cost over time until failure or number of uses is best way to note bang for buck. Based on online long term reviews, Smittybilt comes 3rd. Hopefully they have made design improvements in recent years.

Seen another video that just had the ARB single with 1/2 the CFM, faster then the Smitty 2781. Based on numbers this test makes perfect sense so I’m not sure what must have been going on there.

That does sound odd. Wonder if their Smitty 2781 had a dirty air filter or other other issue.

I think that other video was using the original smittybilt hose and inflator which is probably less effective than the 4-tire inflator used in this video.

Hi Eric, I'm gonna ask a couple different pages, but I'm looking for a portable air compressor that will top my tires off from 50 to 55psi on my truck. My tire size is 285/60/R20. Are there any out there? If so, what are your opinions on the best? A video would be amazing.
@EricCantin Жыл бұрын
There’s a few options for more of a truck tire, but I haven’t dug into them yet. Viair has a few designed for higher pressures and some run air tools off ARB compressors. You’ll want to pay close attention to the compressor duty cycle, cause those pressures start generating more heat. I’m a big advocate about buying the best you can afford, so it treats you well and saves you time. However if you use it occasionally, most compressors can get there eventually. Would be fun to know which you pick and why.

Well as I mentioned I have been watching many videos. I came across this one and it really caught my attention. I am likely to go with the M18 Milwaukee Tire Inflator. In addition to this video which I found very impressive, there is also another I came across that pressured where an F450 tire is pressurized from either 0 or 10 psi to 110psi continuous running. both videos stress the cool down time run 20 cool 40, but they were trying to make the inflator fail and couldn't. Seems very solid!! kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZnXY42HqrGarbc

Why just 30 psi? My 35s need to be at least 50+ before road ready
@EricCantin11 ай бұрын
Airing up four 35” to 50psi needs either lots of time and patience or another air source. We didn’t have either.
@Roadrash429Ай бұрын
With 35's my jeep tj road pressure is at 23lbs. There's a calculator. You put in tire size and vehicle weight to get the correct air pressure for the street. That pressure gives you optimum tread life. Neither "tire max" or vehicle recommendation is correct. I get 50k miles out of 35 12.50 MT's

I want to upgrade to the smitty’s. Currently using two psunami(sp) from pep boys into a tank for my f250 and rv and works well enough

The twin was already on at 22 psi at zero seconds ... Not a good comparison for that test
@EricCantin Жыл бұрын
I think we mentioned it a some point in the video. The displayed air pressure is incorrect while all compressors are on, since the gauge is installed on the line between compressor and the tires. The edit at 5:21-22 shows valve open, compressor being started and pressure still at 15psi. The Twin’s ramp up at low pressure is very fast and some even use it with air tools.
