Nice comparison... When I was looking around 5 years ago I had looked at the 85p, 87p and 88p..I ended up going with the 88p for the hose length and the increased CFM. And yes Viair recommend running the engine when using it... It is faster with the extra voltage. Yeah 85p is a good choice for a compact car. Now a days there are a lot more choices... Like the Smittybilt 2780 or 2781 that has 1.5 or 3.5 times the airflow of the 88p...

Man I didn't know about the Smittybilt compressors, I'm gonna have to pick one of those up, not a bad price and looks like a real quality unit. I love my 88P, but I know it's not meant for some of the stuff I use it for. Thanks for bringing those to my attention!

@@trythistv ... There is a mod that can be done to the smittybilts that add a pressure switch to turn the compressor off so you don't have to manually operate the on/off switch. Also a mod to convert the fittings into standard size fittings so you can change the hoses. Plus there are a couple bigger units that are pushing double the Smitty 2781 (5.46CFM)..i.e. 10.46CFM...Desert Armor Beast compressor at $230 .. Has the built in switch. Then summit racing has one for $179 but that is usually sold out. And recently NAPA has been selling one (maxi Trac) at $114 but no warranty.. And it's sold out.. But something to keep your eye on.

I am so brand new to cars. This saves a lot of time cuz I have used those pumps at gas stations, the ones with free air but sometimes it goes from 25 to 28 and then numbers switch back so I really don't know how much air Ive put into my tires.

I have the 88p for my Jeep. Was thinking of getting a viair for the wife’s crossover. Either the 85 or the 88. I guess it depends on the power outlet on her crossover.

Both are certainly great options. I love my 88p, but the 85p is a tad easier to use with the cigarette lighter adapter thingy, but it is a little slower too.

@@trythistv I have the 88p as well for my jeep. I love it. But buying another one might be a little overkill to keep in my wife’s BMW X1 so I may go with the 85.

Absolutely. If you're planning on airing down tires frequently for offroading or such then the 88P will be faster, but the 85P will easily handle the odd low tire or flat, and would certainly still air up all 4, it'll just take a few more minutes.

I hope you didn't drive with 50 psi! Proper tire pressure is on door sticker.

50 is a shade low for lt tires, but these tires are junk and this truck never sees loads all that heavy or towing anything very big. My big trucks get 65 in the fronts, 80 in the rears
