Cheers Bronson. Great tour of probably the highest spec van in New Zealand. There's just enough room on the roof to fit a Starlink dish. Custom pullout drawers to fit the huge electric Weber and other storage being added soon. Keep an eye out for more detail coming soon on our social media. 👍

That solar system sounds great, I wouldn't mind getting a spec and schematic sheet for it if you don't mind? I am saving to build a DIY system around the same specs with victron components

I’ll see if I can get if for ya 👍 that victron stuff is great aye, worth the money from what I hear!

That water setup is great, being able to reserve one tank for quality drinking water, and then fill the other tank from rivers, lakes etc as required when off grid. I think I would still be carrying a small 4.5kg bottle and gas weber BBQ for the outdoor cooking and backup when power runs low in winter. Diesel heater / water combo I think will become more common in many vans. I think this would still need a generator backup in the winter for extended trips unless travelling often and charging from the vehicle. One minor problem with the big cupboards in the kitchen / lounge is the relatively small low windows. I wonder if there's an option to drop a cupboard and fit a bigger window?
@AdventuresWithRosy Жыл бұрын
Yeh true! I’m sure there is an option to add bigger windows as some of the models with island beds have bigger windows each side of the bed. I like that water setup too, I can imagine in Australia it would come in handy for sure. I’m curious to see what happens to the old gas bbq’s. I’m not sure what I’d be willing to give ours up haha

Heaps of solar. We have 1180 on Beast’s roof and 500amp hours. We are struggling on these grey autumn days though and have to run the generator. Charged great today but we lose the sun around 3pm where we are parked. We had to replace our solar early on when we bought Beast as the old panels were burnt out… Love the 4 bunks.
@AdventuresWithRosy Жыл бұрын
1180 is an impressive amount of solar! That winter sun is deceptive though aye, a really sunny day but only brings in a bit of solar. Good to see you guys got the generator fixed. Harvey was really jealous that you knew the Lego Brick Master contestants! How cool!

Fantastic review - I loved how you focused on the essentials. As an Aussie I’m intrigued about having a full off road van like this in NZ. Are these of road vans popular in NZ?
@AdventuresWithRosy Жыл бұрын
Becoming more and more popular, although most of our gravel roads would take you less that 30min to travel. Some of the Aussie KZbinrs I follow seem to go down some pretty long dirt roads! Our roads here are not fantastic so having an Aussie van with decent clearance and suspension is pretty ideal 😉 that said we do have a lot of English caravans here in NZ too!

Lovely van l, like the idea of total solar. One thing you didn’t make clear can the heater and water run on the electric.
@insideoutrv Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the interest and question. No, the space and water heating is only diesel powered. These appliances use quite a bit of energy, usually used more during winter when solar potential is lower. J

Excellent caravan review! Tell me and hopefully I haven't asked you this question before; but I noticed a cassette window screen abd my question is why do they often have tge block out part coming up from the bottom? To me that is back the front as the sun shines down from above. What is your view?
@AdventuresWithRosy Жыл бұрын
Good point! I think it’s so you can crack the blind slightly (at the top) and let some morning sun in while still walking around in your undies… 😉

Good question James! Our van Tare is 2427kg and can be loaded up to 3500kg 👍

@@AdventuresWithRosy Thanks for that, just enquiring to understand the tow vehicle required. A leeway of almost one tonne is a lot, and you would want to know what you heaviest items in the leeway are so you do not overload. Thanks again
@AdventuresWithRosy Жыл бұрын
Yeh you are right! We tend to keep things as light as we can, try not to pack too much and just fill up with water when we arrive at a destination 👍 use less fuel towing too haha
@cccmmm1234 Жыл бұрын
I'd still have some gas backup. With electric only, blowing one transistor can wipe out all your energy sources.
@AdventuresWithRosy Жыл бұрын
Yeh good point I didn’t think of that! Handy to have the gas for cooking/heating if the old power runs out or something happens!
@Wolfsbane115 Жыл бұрын
I don't think we're going to see the end of LPG Bronson, solar has its place, but as you said yourself, still not enough to run hot water and heating, which relies on good old fossil fuel
@AdventuresWithRosy Жыл бұрын
Yeh true! I imagine you could go full electric and have an electric hot water heater but you need a lot of solar panels and batteries to achieve all that 🤔 be interesting to see how the caravans of the future look!
