That was a sick review. It was cool getting to see some of the details of this build after only seeing snippets of it on IG and other places. You skipped one of my favorite parts of the P2S subframe drop kit- the camber adjustable front coilover spacer! That thing is a work of art how they built it.

Those tires will fit on a stock suspension as well, right? I will eventually get the lift done, but really want to tires as the stocks one are so skinny with a +20 offset and those look so good with that lift so it ticks two boxes at once

Do you think getting or making a rear diff skid plate would be worth it? Won't really rock crawl but might encounter occasional small rock gardens.
@208Tyler3 жыл бұрын
In my experience, no. If you need a rear diff skid you’re probably also encouting terrain that requires: lockers, winches, sliders, and full underbelly skids plates. It’s pretty easy to avoid dragging the rear diff. You’ll know if and when you really need one.

i got a 1997 QX4 and gonna lift the thing and put new rims. So question how about 3.4 Back spacing? Would that be too much? I know the 3.75 is the flush number but 3,4 could look good too... but maybe too much stress on parts...
@208Tyler2 жыл бұрын
3.4 will make the track width unnecessarily wide. You could do it, but unless you have a good reason for it I feel like 3.75 would be better
@maximemoniez6872 жыл бұрын
@@208Tyler Also i've some doubt still as i have an older QX4. it's a 1997 as said. They never came with 15" rims, but, I've looked and measured stuff out and am 99% sure a 15" will fit it no problem. Some people say they don't clear brake calliper but im pretty sure the older Q's have no problem with 15's as long as the backspacing is a minimum of 3,75. Your input would be much appreciated as you have lots of experience with the R50 series. All your video are very informative and very well done mate! Thank you! I was looking at putting 31x10.5 15" for tire and i would like it to stick out just a little. Isn't the 3,75 just flush with the fenders? will also go with suspension lift AC front and Land Rover rear.
@208Tyler2 жыл бұрын
@@maximemoniez687 You'll have no problem fitting 15's, especially with 3.75 Backspacing. The 3.75 number is so that tires larger than 31" don't rub on the lower strut perch. 3.75 backspacing will push the tire out a ways. If you want to be flush with the fender something more like 4.5 backspacing will probably be the right number. Pushing the tire excessively far out is undesirable for scrub radius, rubbing, and tucking tires at full flex.
@maximemoniez6872 жыл бұрын
@@208Tyler Remember though that the Q's have the plastic fender flares that make the stance wider. Thats the reason why i was thinking going to like 3,5 BS. Cool for the 15". I guess the classic is 15x8 -19. Because to be honest i saw another rim that i like which is a 15x8 -24 (3,55 BS) but i have my doubts that it just might be too much. Ah the nice rim topic of the R50's... 😂
@208Tyler2 жыл бұрын
@@maximemoniez687 The downsides of having to do more trimming and having a wider track width to me are far more important than sticking out from the fenders. I would actually rather have the tires inside the fenders- you don't fling mud and rocks all over the vehicle and its better for aerodynamics

Subframe drop = Body lift?
@208Tyler3 жыл бұрын
No. R50’s are unibody design, so no frame/body separation, it’s all one piece. A subframe drop is more like a bracket lift that you often see done on half ton pickups.

It is indeed! The SFD is super fresh, He's just waiting for his otherwise great tires to wear down a little more. It's not a big deal to miss out on the 1" of clearance from going 31's -> 33's, and the MPG in the interim is nice as well.
