WHO WE ARE
We are a couple from opposite sides of the world living an adventure based-alternative lifestyle here in the Pacific Northwest.
Our time is spent split between land & sea - living part time in our tiny home on wheels (a vintage Airstream that we converted completely ourselves) as well as living aboard our tiny home with sails ( a Catalina 30 that we've been restoring while teaching ourselves how to sail!).

OUR STORY
• First Step Towards Mak...
I (Allison, the Newfie) met James (the Aussie) while working on a remote island 3 years ago.
A decade working in healthcare has helped us both to appreciate the preciousness of this one beautiful life we've been given.
Viewing TIME as our most valuable gift, we've been feeling an urgency in our lives to Live All Out!
We decided to make some BOLD moves, hit PAUSE on our conventional careers & work full time, turning our DREAMS into reality.
The past 12 months we have been working towards making full-time adventure possible. The first step was downsizing and minimizing our lives to fit into a 160ft. Airstream trailer which we converted completely ourselves without any experience.
Living full time in our tiny home on wheels created the financial freedom we needed to take the next big step, buying our sailboat!
She's another big project, but we're ready for another challenge. And we're pretty motivated by all the amazing ocean adventures
that lie ahead!
Subscribe to follow along on our journey!
Much love,

Safety tip... check the orientation of your split pins (see under furler/forestay). Sooner or later these will fail and when they do it is safer to have the head of the pin on top (yours is at the bottom). That way they won't fall out if they fail and you will hopefully see this on a regular rig inspection. I inspect all my rig attachment points before every sail. Good luck.

Cheers mate! I hadn’t actually noticed that, thanks for pointing it out! Next time I’m down at the dock I’ll take a good look around the rig and see if I can identify any others that are in need of realignment.

You put on your whale shirt to get whale sightings. James put on his Newfoundland Sayings shirt and the first person to watch your video is a Newfie girl!! You made me proud buddy! Loving the accents while missing 'home'!! Did you give him that shirt Allison?

Hahah! Love that Colleen! I actually found it in a thrift store here on Vancouver island. Allison was pretty pumped when I came home wearing it! I went to Newfoundland for the first time with her a few weeks later and was happy to be able to reference my shirt to chat with all the locals haha NL is a unique & beautiful place :)

Love wing on wing. Such a beautiful place. Can’t wait to see the mountains. And the food is so yummy. Can’t wait to see the videos when you’re near the end of provisions and you have to figure out what to put together. Like maybe after 60 days of sailing? Beans and rice in one pot LOL. Love you ps. Also loved the shirts

It’s such a beautiful point of sail isn’t it!! We had another beautiful wing on wing cruise yesterday thru the Broughtons :) The mountains heading up the inlet were spectacular, excited to share them with you!

Haha always a good challenge to try and figure out what to make with just a handful of canned and dried ingredients. You’re always so good at that! Funnily enough, last night we chose to eat beans and rice even though we have heaps of provisions 😄

Thanks for coming along on the journey with us Suzanne! Not caught up quite yet! We filmed these episodes last Summer! But we didn’t film much last Fall and Winter because that’s when we started editing and putting the channel together. You can expect more recent adventures in the coming weeks :)

What was the bottom like in your anchorage? Many of the boats I see anchoring up there use a stern tie to shore as well. I think much of the reason for that is the depth of anchorages, which wasn’t an issue you had. We are going to do the San Juan’s next summer and the Canadian islands the following summer.
@AllisonandJamesSailing
@AllisonandJamesSailing Жыл бұрын
Green bay has good holding in mud with a depth of around 50'. We do carry a stern line as well (200') for when we anchor in deep water and need to pull the boat back to shore, which is pretty often :) Stoked that you're sailing the San Juan's and planning on exploring some of Canada! Where are you leaving from?

Have you any soundproofing around the engine compartment? Is all that engine noise just un-muffled, or is that THROUGH the insulation?
@AllisonandJamesSailing
@AllisonandJamesSailing 5 ай бұрын
Gah unmuffled - we’ve been wishing for a soundproofed engine bay for so long 😅 but more complicated to do in this case because the engine is smack in the middle compared to one more aft/under the galley steps for example. When we’ve chatted with folks who have tried insulting the engine bay on a Catalina 30 it made little difference, so we haven’t made it a priority. But it’s frustrating because it is very loud and we have to do work arounds when vlogging under power/editing audio afterwards.

@@AllisonandJamesSailing Good to know. I'll be making that a priority when we're shopping around.

Enjoyed seeing you both reaping the rewards of all your hard work and what a spectacular location to sail in. James did I see you nearly hit your head as you were coming out of the cabin? Reminds me of ducks being painted on the head board in low door ways.

Thanks! The spectacular locations just keep getting better and better so stay tuned! I have hit my head on that thing so many times I should probably paint it yellow and stick feathers on it!

We currently have two GoPros, a DSLR and drone which is a lot to manage but working well for us starting out! Our goal would be to purchase a better camera with some higher quality lenses but that is of course, very expensive. We haven't made a single cent from KZbin to put towards new camera gear, but maybe someday!

I, Allison filmed and edited those scenes. We set the GoPro’s up on the stanchions when we’re busy and can’t hold the DSLR.. the stanchions are bum height so sometimes what we have is booty shots!
