Johnny’s story about his homie not smoking weed and then having the same life but ending up completely different and his life being way better gave me flashbacks but I also had this realization not that long ago and it kinda broke my heart made me wish I never started smoking or getting around gangs and stupid stupid stuff cause it did ruin my life. I had so much potential when I was young, I gave up on myself before even trying. I didn’t listen to anyone when I should have slowed down

It's crazy for me i was that kid who grew up around that exact lifestyle and seen all kinda of drugs, i was asked to try whatever drugs i was asked to join whatever and when your surrounded by all that you want to do it also but whats crazy was everytime i was asked or came close to it i got this BAD gut feeling in my stomach and i would just say no.

@mvthemostvaluable3972 that sucks big time. I know this probably won't mean that much, but you remind me of the epilogue of the book "Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents": (paraphrased and my take on it) gaining awareness of these problems is like living a second life. Having the chance to live 2 lifetimes in 1.

As Johnny's story shows. There is a way to turn things around once you see what needs to change in your life to make better choices. It is like a song I really like called "Some people do" by: Old Dominion

@@manchuk1d Yep same here. I grew up in LB and was around gang members all the time. But I never did the drug shit or drank as much as they did. They did laugh at me but I didn't care. Because when I drank too much, I would get a mad migraine and it would ruin the entire night for me. I went clubbing a lot and had the ricer shit too lol. I now own 3 boba shops and own a rental property. While some of my friends are still back in the hood shit and barely making a living. I no longer have contact with 80% of them. They were invited to all my boba shops grand opening and none showed up. Oh wells.

I can never believe in Christianity but what Johnny says is really good for life in general
@ServingVibes
@ServingVibes Жыл бұрын
That's how my husband thinks. I'm a Christian and he isn't. May I ask what turns you off from religion? He thinks it's just something to keep people in line to sum it up.
@1Mikamika7
@1Mikamika7 Жыл бұрын
@@ServingVibes I can’t speak for Tostino or anyone but, I can see how it’s the way Christianity is portrayed as good and sin, heaven and hell turns people away. That black and white concept leaves out the grey area in between and when people question it, someone will naturally try to sway them towards one side. Black or white, good or bad. Leaving out the “grey” out of the picture. When really we are always going to be in the “grey”, we are the totality of black and white, the big picture. Because the idea of having to be good to get into heaven can give the impression of perfectionism. Which can have a toxic impact on one’s psyche if extreme. Gives off a very dictatorial oppressive system rather than focusing just on, being? Hopefully the analogy makes sense lol.
@divinelymoowah6104
@divinelymoowah6104 Жыл бұрын
@Tostino what Johnny says is great for everyone because the pastor utilized wisdom on human (being) nature, and passed that onto Johnny. Now how the pastor ties in stories from Christianity is how he (pastor) connects his faith in the religion and passes it on. I say this to break down why it makes sense to you (not that you asked lol, so sorry [although not sorry..?] for unsolicited opinion) and not to convince you to convert or anything in terms of changing your opinions.
@ServingVibes
@ServingVibes Жыл бұрын
@@1Mikamika7 I get what you're saying but you can be a good person and do good things but if you don't believe in Jesus than you still can go to hell where as they say that's what Jesus Christ died on the cross for bc we're not perfect. He did that bc of our sinful nature so in that sense it doesn't make sense (if that makes sense, lol)
@1Mikamika7
@1Mikamika7 Жыл бұрын
@@ServingVibes For sure, I see that perspective as well! But it’s also proving what I said earlier. There’s always a ultimatum. Why can’t good just be recognized as good? Why must people who have done no wrong suffer in hell for eternity, or especially if they haven’t learned or encountered the Christian faith or don’t have a concept of Jesus yet? This is a loaded reply, you don’t have to respond to all of those, this is just something to put out there :) But again, this subject is relative to one’s personal experiences, so it will differ for everyone. 🙏🏽

Thank you Johnny for this. I been feeling like I'm spiraling. Friday night had a couple beers and did a bump and the next day I felt crazy. Like I wanted more and I was scared of myself. I've done all those drugs you listed 3 years ago. I don't want go back to that so last night I went to hang with my family. Everyone was drinking but all I had was a water and sprite. Today I feel calmer and those thoughts started creeping again so then I sat ate and watched this video. You give me hope.

I was the good kid so no one was worried about me when they still definitely should've been.

A very wise OG once told me that my reliance on self...he explained it as playing God...would always fail. Human power would not solve my problems. Think that's what you boys were touching on at 12:00 talking about too much confidence or trust in myself...I always new best...I always had the right answer, I was never in the wrong. It was always about me. Until i understood that my broke ass brain couldn't magically learn how to heal itself, I stayed screwed. Thank god for tough eye opening reminders from Earthly Angels. Keep doing the deal, fellas, and much love to you and yours 🙏❤🙏

I’m Buddhist, but it’s amazing how the advice that Johnny gave is expressed through Christianity but those same teachings/concepts parallel those in other religions + philosophies. It doesn’t matter what you believe or follow, there’s truth in all. As long as it comes from a place of love and understanding for one another that’s all that matters. 🙏🏽🤍

I'm 36 and grew up with gang bangers in the Philippines late 90's and early 2000's. And yes, I totally agree that you can be stupidly confident and trust your own self o you can choose not to do things because you're scared o you don't trust your own self. I have cousins who chose to be gang bangers, but I didn't. I have cousins who chose to be addicted to something that would ruin their lives but I didn't. It's because I didn't trust myself. I didn't join my cousins. Growing up, we had the same family background, poor, parents always fighting, or broken family, or older siblings/cousins or aunts/uncles are bad influencers, older folks alcohol (part of every day lifestyle), less educated (not finish high school or college), unstable job, abused by parents verbally or physically (too strict) or sometimes negligence (busy parents, no time for kid). Because of those things, I have a fear of having the same life like my previous generations, and if I did it like my cousins, then I would end up like my old folks. I chose to be educated, I chose to find good jobs, I chose to be busy at school, and church. I was always outside the house too but I prefer going to the library or church or school activities, instead. I have more stable life than my cousins as of the moment because of my choices by God's grace. I am actually helping them right now (and their own families, 6 families to be exact) to be away from poverty and addiction. They just now realizing it (in their 30's) that their should have not trusted their own selves in the past and it was so stupid of them and now their families are suffering from what they did in the past. Right now, little by little, they are becoming mature or stable, or focusing on communication and providing love as well as foos for their families. God blessed me with resources, that's my I'm sharing it to them. They were surprised and emotional when I started helping them. Little by little they are changing, thank God.
