there's actually no taxonomic distinction between toads and frogs. for example, phylogenetically, true toads (bufonidae) are more closely related to dart frogs than they are to spadefoot toads (pelobatidae) or mexican burrowing toad (rhinophrynidae). though everything said so far is also true at least normally.
