I’m 28 and had a 6 year stretch of a mix of alcoholism/depression/ptsd after 2 deployments. After a bunch of years of therapy, I agree with Mike. I am almost 600 days sober but the PTSD is still there, and it will never go anywhere but I’m more aware of what’s going on and how to deal with it. And with the sobriety from alcohol and a clear mind, you can separate what issues are actually mental health and what is substance related.
