I let a classmate in 3rd or 4th grade borrow my copy of street fighter 2 for the Sega genesis. At first I'd ask him, hey can I get my game back, and he'd keep forgetting or making up some excuse. Even when we'd hangout outside of school, I'd be like hey let's bike to your house and let me get my game back, and he'd be like my mom has people over. Eventually, I just showed up at his house when he wasn't there and asked his mom if I can get my game back very nicely. She gave it to me, but after that he started acting wierd like I stole it from his house. In my head I was like, motherfucker that was my game! After that I didn't let anyone borrow a game unless I got one of theirs.

Story time Mid 90's. Power 106 used to have NEIGHBORHOOD DJs come on as special guest on Saturday at midnight. The show was called Power Tools and these DJs would give the listeners their best scratch and mix sessions! I had a cassette tape with an irreplaceable mix on it that will NEVER be heard by mankind again...and my friend asked to borrow it, because it was that legendary. A week later I ask for it and he looks at me and says..."I accidentally recorded over it." He's an awesome guy, nicest dude to anyone who has ever met him. Accidents happen....but that mix tape haunts me. I want to hear it again so so badly. 😞 It was perfect.

The only things I never got back are my pencils and pens borrowed during school days. I learned to keep my things since, and don't like it when people touch my stuff. I don't really let people borrow from me unless it is something I am willing to lose. If I do let them borrow something, I made sure I get it back. Or I lend it to people who I can trust and to those who will remember to give it back. 🤣

For me, twice I let someone borrow something and I never saw it again. First time was my copy of sly cooper and I let a friend borrow it. 2 days later they moved and never gave it back. Another time was in high-school and I let a friend borrow a comic. They ended up letting someone else borrow it and that person said they couldn't find it. Thankfully it got replaced by the friend.

When you lend someone something and then they let someone else borrow it. It becomes a pain in the ass trying to get that back. I've had times I've given up on it and just took the L. Back in middle school a friend and I swapped playstation games. I borrow one of his, he borrows one of mine. A couple weeks later I ask him if he's ready to trade back. He told me he wanted another week with my game. A week later I ask again and he said wanted a couple more weeks. A few months go by and it's summer break. I spent a few days sleeping over at my cousins. When I get back home my dad tells me one of my friends stopped by to take back his game and said he said that I wasn't meant to keep his game. WTF?! You're the one who wouldn't trade back! Good thing that was 8th grade and we weren't gonna see each other again cause we were going to different high schools.

i went 3 months without my ID and didn’t even told my mom until i had to prove my identity to travel but couldn’t do so - the reason: my friend took my wallet, hid my document inside a pressure cooker pan whatever they’re called and forgot where she put it 🫠 spent the whole day looking for that shit and 3 months later, the lady who worked at her house said she put it away with my friend’s family documents aka the junk mail pile 🫠😵‍💫 and still got scolded by my mom for being dumb haha
