Alabama is a beautiful State, especially north Alabama which is part of the Appalachians. It has beautiful State Parks. Cheaha and Desoto State parks are so pretty. I was born and raised in Montgomery, long ago since I am 71. It is full of history but no pretty scenic areas like north Alabama has. If I could move back, north Alabama would be my choice! Thanks for your videos, I visited the Huntsville Space Center as a young teen. It was amazing! I also love old cemeteries and the history of those buried there.

As a recent California transplant to Huntsville, it’s great to see you covering our wonderful town. I absolutely love it here, and seeing you highlight some of my favorite places is a real treat. One place you must cover is the tiny town of Mooresville, AL which lies between Huntsville and Decatur. It’s one of the oldest incorporated towns in Alabama (1818). Very charming with many original homes all very well kept. Don’t miss it!

I enjoyed your video. I live in Madison and being a proud Son of the South, blessed by God to live in the great state of Alabama, I watch everything about my State. I'm a Lifetime Student and enjoy History. Keep visiting your Dad. I lost my Dad in '93. He had just turned 54. Below some TRIVIA and #FUNFACTS TRIVIA Tallulah Bankhead's dad William B. Bankhead was the 42nd Speaker of the House. The Bankhead National Forest in the Sipsy Wilderness is named for him. This area is known as "The Land of 1000 Waterfalls" beautiful Black Warrior River runs through it Tallulah's grandfather, John H. Bankhead, served in the Confederate Army rising to the rank of Captain in the Alabama 16th Infantry. He served in both chambers of State legislature as well as the US House of Representatives. FUN FACT #1 The Tunnel Richard Dreyfuss drives through in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" is The Bankhead Tunnel in the port city of Mobile, Alabama. The tunnel runs under Mobile Bay where the Mobile River empties into the Gulf of Mexico. FUN FACT #2 Frank James, brother to Jesse of the James Gang, stood trial in the Calhoun House that was used as the Federal Courthouse located at 301 Eustis Avenue. In 1884, James was accused of robbing a US Army Paymaster in Muscle Shoals (yes the Muscle Shoals #LynyrdSkynyrd referenced in "Sweet Home Alabama" as in Muscle Shoals has got the Swampers, and that is another video). During his trial locals would pay a Bond and take Frank out to lunch and dinner on a Day Pass. Much to the chagrin of the Prosecutor and what came as no surprise to anyone South of the Mason-Dixon Line, Frank was acquitted. The evening of his acquittal, some say you could hear Confederate Soldiers forever interred at Maple Hill Cemetery singing "Dixie". [Maple Hill Cemetery: "Dead Children's Playground".] PS King Cotton The Cotton Boll is prickly. Not fun to pick. The cotton plant of the 1800s stood 30 to 48 inches. Today with better irrigation and agricultural advancements it is easily 40 to 60 inches. A "cotton picker" no longer has to bend over. Semper Fi

Good morning Jeff. It was nice to see your father and that he still exercises in his 80s; that's what it takes to keep on keeping on. You mentioned Tallulah Bankhead being born in Huntsville, Alabama; I don't remember her when I was younger. Wikipedia said that she smoked 120 cigarettes a day and drank a lot of alcohol and codeine. She died at 66 years old; so much for smoking. Thanks for showing us that old hardware store; I do remember the old style cash register and saw a few of them when I was a kid. I am glad you and your brother had a safe trip there and back.

Another fine video Jeff. Your cotton field episode was of particular interest for me as that was the first job I had on the farm near Kettleman city. I was 8 yrs old and it was 1951. I was given my own little cotton sack and I followed along behind my mother picking cotton. as a side note the cotton sack is tied together at the end so that when it is full and you go empty it in the cotton trailer all you have to is untie the end and dump it out and retie it. One doesn't even have to take it off of your shoulder. This of course was before the cotton picking machine was developed. 🤠🚜

We lived on Monte Sano from 1974 to 1983. The "back" road up the mountain is named Bankhead Parkway, after Tallulah's father. Tallulah invented a system of frequency hopping and patented it during WW2. This enabled our torpedos to avoid jamming while they were tracking their target. She was more than a movie star. She was a very smart engineer/inventor.
