​@@specialnewb9821yeah and no. Later the franchise gets lazy. It kinda becomes the All Saiyan All The Time Bonanza. It becomes crutch of sorts since Saiyan becomes a sort of duex ex machina. When it was based more in Sun Wukong in Journey to the West it seemed to have more creative ways in showing development. "Oh, you liked when Goku did ..., how about he do it again? You really liked that? How about he do it again, again?" That's basically hype over substance.

@jessecortez9449 well true. it seems a lot of them forget that dragon ball is literally aired during 1980’s, so a lot of the ‘slice of life’ scenes in the anime are just basically what it is in the society that time. especially to chichi. at first, i never really understood the said ‘annoyance’ abt her constant nagging bcs to me she's just a typical asian mom. side note, maybe adding to the factor of my ‘confusion’ to how others react to chichi is because my mom's like her. the world will end and she'd still tell me to study😂☝🏻

"Should've been Suno" Toriyama would have done the same thing to her that he did to Chi Chi, if she even had any romantic interest in Goku. Toriyama never felt comfortable writing romantic relationships, even married relationships, so he reverted to his norm of comedy writing. Combine that with how Goku and Chi Chi are essentially representing Chinese couples. Their attire, their speaking accents are Chinese hillbilly folk, Gohan is dressed in traditional upper class Chinese clothes when we first see him. Traditional Asian couples rarely have public displays of affection even in front of their own kids while in their own homes. Toriyama took this and just ramped it up to ludicrous extremes.
