This is a little peice about Ocarina of Time. Not many people have noticed but the blue cubes that go away or appear when you play the song of time are actually moving back and forth in time. for example if you are in the past and summon one with the song, the block is not gonna be in the future, and if you go to the future and summon the cube there, it won't be in the past.

Encyclopedia is a fun read that offers plausible explanations (like the Zoras turning to become part of the Demon Clan/Tribe of Evil after the downfall of the Hero of Time and becoming monstrous as a result) but Termina being a parallel universe to Hyrule is actual developer word by Yoshiaki Koizumi who concieved that concept into the game, and not some world created by Skull Kid, especially because Majora's Mask was created in Termina itself..

I still fail to properly comprehend how this is an N64 game. The mechanics, the quest design, the map, the amount of dialogue. I know it utilised the Expansion Pak, but still. It feels leaps and bounds beyond anything else on the system, including Ocarina of Time. It's GameCube quality.

Oh well. With all that we have to do here, I'm worried about the time constraint as well... 12:45 (N2 1a.m.) Mapo manages to light all the torches in Goron Village ! 13:40 (N2 1a.m.) We find the Rock Sirloin ! Funnily enough, Mapo doesn't visually recognize it as food. :D 18:20 (N2 3a.m.) We brought the Rock Sirloin to the hungry Goron ! And after a little exchange and cinematic we finally get Don Gero's Mask ! (Fun fact : this is actually pronounced with a hard G, because gero gero, with gard Gs, is the onomatopoeia for the sound a frog makes in Japanese). 22:06 (N2 4a.m.) After blowing up the race tracks' boulder, we get a little warm-up ! :) 26:48 (D3 8a.m.) We speak to one of the frogs as Don Gero for the first time and realize we have the locations for all the frogs ! Fun fact time: The row of masks the Goron mask is on (not including the Goron mask itself) is a reference to the Star Fox team including the traitor Pigma. All the business scrubs keep their customer restrictions despite moving to a place where they would never be. For example, the scrub in Lulu's room will only sell to Zora even after moving to Snowhead despite the fact Zora are vulnerable to the cold (as Zora Link, you void out when lit on fire or frozen). Mikau's lucky color being green is a reference to Link finding him and saving Lulu's eggs for him. The Clock Town Lottery numbers are generated when you create the save file, but each day's winning numbers are the same for every cycle.

I have to agree with you on how Majora's Mask (some fever dream or nightmarish world) being a direct follow-up to a game like Ocarina of Time was a huge risk. I try to imagine how it came to be, since it turned out great and commercially succeeded despite seeming like it would be an odd pitch before the development process for how much it differs from every previous Zelda games.

On emulator I used hover cheat to avoid getting Tatl in the beginning by skipping the you wouldn't leave a little girl alone dialog and the game would later crash talking to Sakon because there was no Tatl for this dialog.

Three things: 1). 33:05 No Cheating, lol. 2). One of Zelda's biggest mysteries is what did the Gorman Brothers do to get their hands on the Garo Masks? 3). The Song of Healing has a limit... It affects those who have lingering regrets and those that have been cursed. Sharp is neither cursed nor regretful. So therefore, it will not work...

Fun fact now that you have Don Gero's Mask you have the second row of your mask screen complete: From left to right, we have a fox (Keaton Mask), a bird (Bremen Mask), a bunny (Bunny Hood) and a frog (Don Gero's Mask) and a pig (Mask of Scents). That's a reference to the Star Fox team's members Fox McCloud, Falco Lombardi, Peppy Hare and Slippy Toad. The pig is Pigma Dengar of the Star Wolf team who once was a member of the original Star Fox team, but betrayed them, which led to James McCloud's death.

And this is why I have never managed to replay any 3D Zelda to completion, despite loving them to pieces. There's always something like the Goron races that I'm so glad I will NEVER have to do again. 7 years later when I think maybe I'll play again, I remember. Something you need to know that the game doesn't tell you. The Spider house in Great Bay is only worth doing on day 1 because the rewards are different on different days & day ones reward is permanent.

As much fun as i think the Goht fight is, having to do it 4 times on a casual run is a bit excessive, when the other bosses only need to be done once. Of all the "improvements" made in the 3DS remake, i'm shocked that it still takes a full day to upgrade the sword. Also, the "100 strikes or song of time" limit makes the intermediate sword kinda useless despite being so iconic it was used on the cover art. If you could get the razor sword on first visiting goron village and then upgrade it on a different cycle then it would be fine, but the song of time removing both the razor sword and the gold dust is bullshit.

you can sell the gold dust at the curiosity shop for 200R. you can sell most things in bottles there, but most only give you 20R. except for water, which is 5R. you can sell zora eggs for 20R, but not the deku princess. i forget if you can sell the seahorse. you can also sell the gold dust to the blacksmith, but he's ripping you off. A fun fact: if you get jinxed by the blue bubbles, you can't draw your sword. but if you play the song of storms, it undoes the effect.

You know the sound design is on point when the immediate reaction is... Drops the prime hunk of rock sirloin on the (rock)bone on the first try... reaction; "What's this?" A Goron gourmand he is not. Again with the blowing up of the Goron racetrack... is Skull Kid whispering in your ear Mapo? Telling you about a fun little prank? First complete row of masks! And it is such a nice row, referencing a different Nintendo franchise. Soon it will be time to screen Gekko 3: Bringing the band together! Song of Soaring coming in clutch! No reverse race required. And in a flash, the boss goes down... sad, I wanted to see you do it again. Makes sense to cut it though. So not only did you race the track beforehand... you also tried to get away with a cheeky false start... AND you wanted to blow up the racetrack... Mapo you scoundrel! And in the end... you gained NOTHING! You've Goht to do what you've Goht to do, spending an entire loop on a new sword... will it be worth it in the end? Ninjas! Ninjas everywhere! The music in this area actually reminds me of music from a later game in the series. We'll see if you recognize it when you get there. Silly Garo, so weak to a basic shield block. Clearly, their training has been insufficient. Tiny Fairy Home! Boulders and Hookshot and ascension... oh my! The Poe Sisters are back! Yay! Dried up well found... will this be a callback to OoT? Guess we'll find out. Déjà Vu! We've been at the bottom of a well before! But alas, no dice. The sinister Sharp serenades you with a shadowy song that saps your spirit! What sorcery can subvert this sepulchrous sonata? Song of Healing? Sharp says... N o p e ! Better luck next time, chump. Imagine if this song actually cursed you with a constant life drain even outside of the Springwater Cave... now that would be a grave predicament indeed. A tower of stone. Holding potential answers. The climb, might be hard.

At first I really despised the weapon fatigue in Breath of the wild, but after a while I came to realize it forces you to constantly readjust yourself and awards adaptability rather than just relying on the same old drab weapon from start to finish

The concept of rationing your weapons and deciding when to use which one and for how long is a fun mechanic, so long as you aren't adamantly against the idea for virtually no reason.

To me, it felt exhilarating to be in a tough fight and see my supply of weapons dwindle. It urged me to do better and upped the stakes.

@BusinessSkrub I will admit I can think of a fistful of changes that would most probably be for the better. Less weapons in the world. The master sword should be truly permanent and generally middle of the road (so that you can start looking for situational temporary weapons to spice up planned encounters if you want). The game isn't perfect and I don't wanna give the impression that I thought it was. But it's also not BAD for implementing a gameplay choice that works fine as is.

He's there only in the N64 version, in the 3DS remake they moved him to the pirate's fortress because you'd need the stone mask there most and are less likely to overlook him
