Kafergaon was originally a hidden Lepcha village in Loleygaon with a population of only 5000 people. Kaffer village provides a spectacular view of the sunrise in the eastern horizon of Bhutan and the plains of the Dooars, as well as a panoramic view of Kanchenjunga and its sister peaks covered in saffron coloured sun rays and a beautiful view of Kalimpong town.

Kaffer gaon, also known as Kaffer Village, is located in the West Region Of bengal of Kalimpong. It is about 5 kilometres from Lolegaon. Kaffer gaon is a beautiful Lepcha hamlet with a population of 5000 people located at an elevation of 1,675 metres. Kafer is the Lepcha name for Loleygaon. The Neora Valley Forest circuit is only 6 kilometres long from Lolegaon Village.
𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐊𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐆𝐚𝐨𝐧
Nearest airport is Bagdogra (IXB) and nearest railway station is New Mal Jn. (NMZ) another nearest rail head is New Jalpaiguri (NJP), these are well connected with rest of India. Direct car/taxis are available up to Kaffer Village from Bagdogra airport, NJP and Siliguri (125 K.M), it will take around 4-4.5 hrs. to reach. Shared taxis/jeeps are available up to Kalimpong only from Siliguri.
The village located just 45 K.M away from Kalimpong and may take around one to one and half hour to reach. Another alternate route to Kaffer Village via Lava, distance around 60 K.M.
