I guess you have to be super experience rider for this safari lol if the horse bolts I'd be left eating dirt and well don't know what would happen next... and the crossing of that water with crocodiles or hippos not very sure about that one, too risky.

Kenya, Botswana, South Africa etc many African countries have such safari's even Mongolia, Argentina and India has it except the savanna ofc...

You were in a Group. But what would happen if you'd be a single rider? Would Lions, mostly in pride, attack you and notice you as Prey? I mean a (big) horse won't refuse them. They even attack bulls, wildebeast, giraffes, zebras etc.

It you're not willing to cross a crocodile/hippo infested body of water on your own, then you shouldn't be risking horses who have no say in the matter.
