Would love to send you some of the dehydrated veggies for soups and such this winter, no cost, just to share the bounty. When I made elder sirup last year I also didn't add as much sugar as it said on the recipe. Thing is the sirup went bad after a few months (don't know if mold or bacteria) and I learned afterwards, that adding more sugar would have greatly increased preservation time... So I hope your jam stays fresh for long or you don't plan on storing it for long! Wish you happy times!

I hear ya about foraging. I grew up with a forest behind my house. We foraged a lot. We had tons of huckleberries. They were tiny for the most part but just such a refreshing snack on their own. Put them in pancakes and they just made such a great treat. We had walnuts and hazelnuts and cherries and blueberries and wild herbs like lambs quarters that were so wonderful. I wish my gramma had lived longer so she could have taught me which wild mushrooms were safe cuz she def knew snd nothing better than simple polenta smothered in sautéed wild mushrooms and garlic and a dab of olive oil to moisten it and make it a filling meal. Polenta or grits is such a versatile food too. Thanks for sharing your literally toiling for your food.

That is awesome! And something I myself really want to learn more, what to forage nearby. If your jam has gotten moldy, then next time do add more sugar, it is in there less for taste and more for preserving. Also you can sterilize your jar easily with boiling water & soda, let it sit in there, and then empty & rinse with boiling water right before you fill it

Just a quick note: a blueberry picker (a strange comb/basket) would make you very fast while gathering those berries. Don't know if it'd work with the wild strawberries, but definetly worth a try if next year you're able to harvest three or four jars in the time it took you to get just one this year. (Also, I'd recommend propagating the blueberries if you want more of them; it's as easy as cutting a young branch and putting it in a jar of water until it grow roots! The trick is to forgot about them and check back whenever you want).
